Based in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan ballistic missile defense operations systematically, monitor the battle collectively, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and throughout all flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations globally and regionally to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate current and future missile defense system capabilities.
Essential Functions:
Will conduct requirements elicitation by utilizing behavioral artifacts like use cases to understand and communicate the necessary system behaviors and performance
Assist in developing and reviewing interface documents, system requirements, Verification Cross-Reference Matrices (VCRM), architectural documentation, and engineering estimates. Additionally, author and lead both formal and informal engineering reviews.
Must be adaptable and capable of managing various tasks on short notice
Work will be carried out under the guidance of the C2BMC Systems Engineering Manager, the Product Owner, and the Core Systems Engineering team leader, supporting various project engineers
Will also collaborate with team members, C2BMC management, and government customers to guarantee the delivery of high-quality products on time and within resource limits
Adhering to DOORS processes and procedures, reviewing the content and details of technical products, and serving as a technical interface with MDA working-level counterparts as required
Will actively participate in Agile development activities, such as planning iterations, reporting progress, and assisting with Agile team leadership
Basic Qualifications:
Please list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.
A Bachelor’s Degree in STEM Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a STEM-related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related STEM discipline with 4 years of relevant work experience
Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
Must have a solid understanding of systems engineering processes and principles, along with proven experience in applying them to develop product solutions
Candidates should have experience in requirements elicitation, particularly in using behavior diagrams as an analysis tool to understand and break down requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, including the ability to clearly articulate technical methods and findings. Also capable of writing and executing engineering plans within a project
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering is highly preferred
Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF)
A minimum of 9 years of experience collaborating within integrated teams alongside other systems and specialty engineers to develop solutions, with familiarity in all parts of the system’s development life cycle, is preferred
Demonstrated contributions to implementation, including the ability to analyze high-level needs and define a structured, logical approach to refine the capability into an integrated set of requirements that have led to a fielded product, are highly desired
Demonstrated the ability to communicate effectively, clearly present technical approaches and findings, and write and implement engineering plans for a project
Experience engaging with customers to gather requirements and communicating with stakeholders to confirm understanding of the requirements' intent
Missile Defense System experience and familiarity are desirable
Experience with complex Command and Control Systems is desirable
Experience in developing systems engineering artifacts such as specifications, Interface Control Documents, Use Cases, System Architecture Descriptions, and Trade Studies
Experience collaborating within an integrated team that includes systems, software, and specialty engineers to develop solutions
Desired skills encompass experience in an Agile development setting, Systems Analysis, Metric Creation, and Architecture Design

Primary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
