What you'll get to do:
- Properly evaluate and interpret engineering models, engineering GD&T intent, and calibration results.
- Manage daily metrology workflow to drive efficiency and optimal resource utilization.
- Develop solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovative thinking.
- Perform measurements and data post processing using portable metrology systems such as Optical Fixtures, Motion Simulators, and Analysis data using statistic software etc..
- Serve as the main metrology interface between engineering and metrology technicians.
Basic Qualifications for the Principal Metrology Engineer:
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 5 years of experience; Masters degree STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 3 years of experience.
- Experience using metrology equipment (Theodolites, Autocollimators, Laser Interferometer, Mechanical Equipment Calibrator).
- Experience with Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and interpreting engineer drawings and models.
- Experience with automated calibration system such as Surecal or Metcal.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience performing metrology evaluations, calibration, data interpretation of Optical Equipment used in surveying equipment for Astronomic Reference north alignment.
- Experience with Gage Blocks to set up optical fixtures for Yaw, Pitch, and Roll for Navigation systems reference on Motion Simulators.
- Experience with tooling, fixtures, and precision angles levels.
- Experience with Mechanical Metrology standards.
