Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an NDI Tech 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Palmdale, CA. The selected candidate must be available to support all shifts including weekends. Travel may be required.
The selected candidate will be trained to perform non-destructive tests (NDT) on aircraft engines or components. Inspects metallic and nonmetallic materials, parts and assemblies for defects using automated and manual methods and techniques including Radiography, Ultrasound, Phased Array Ultrasonics, Penetrant, Eddy Current, Laser Shearography, and Thermography. Additionally, the selected candidate will be involved in the NDT Inspection of hardware supporting various aircraft Programs and must be willing to attend/acquire all the necessary classroom training and method certification in the methods mentioned above.
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
Possess the ability to work in a Team environment under the guidance of mentor/mentors to learn the necessary techniques and processes for achieving high quality NDT inspection results
Active Secret Clearance and ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access
Formal Classroom Certifications in Ultrasonic NDT level 1 and level 2 (must be able to provide documentation)
Formal Classroom Certifications in Eddy Current NDT level 1 and level 2 (must be able to provide documentation)
Must be available to support all shifts including weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Aircraft Inspection or Structures
Knowledge of Nonconforming Material (NCM) control system and governing procedures and documentation
Relevant past experience in the NDT field
