Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman has an opening for a first shift Floor Support Manufacturing Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The position will be located in Iuka, MS. This position will support our A shift on a 4/10 schedule Monday – Thursday.
The selected candidate will provide critical hands-on support in a high-volume high-mix production environment, working closely with Operations, Quality, and Maintenance. Our goal is to minimize downtime on the production line by troubleshooting, problem solving, and proactively identifying areas of concern. Our engineers work to continuously improve their processes, eliminating process variation and waste while building in quality. Join us in the team effort to meet our production goals!
Responsibilities:
Work closely with manufacturing personnel to tackle production issues in hand and machine-aided layup, automated fiber placement, autoclave cure, CNC and water jet machining, and nondestructive inspection
Maintain and distribute daily shift issue logs, documenting both resolved and pending equipment/production issues for enhanced communication and transfers of information between shifts
Evaluate and disposition product as part of Material Review Board (MRB)
Author, modify, and audit shop floor procedures and electronic work instructions (EWIs)
Perform root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities to permanently eliminate defects
Troubleshoot production/equipment/program/tooling issues and implement robust improvements and solutions
This position may be filled as an Associate Manufacturing Engineer Level 1 or as a Manufacturing Engineer Level 2
Basic Qualifications:
Associate Manufacturing Engineer Level 1:
Bachelors Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 0 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment
Exposure to Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD clearance per company and business needs
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR) per company and business needs
Manufacturing Engineer Level 2:
Bachelors Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 1 years of work experience in an engineering manufacturing environment role; OR Masters in STEM field with 0 years of experience.
Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically with Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Experience with reading and understanding engineering drawings and specifications
Experience with knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
Abilit to obtain and maintain DoD clearance per company and business needs
Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR) per company and business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineering degree in Manufacturing, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or similar
Knowledge of composite hand layup, fiber placement, bonding, and/or curing
Knowledge of composite machining using CNCs and/or water jets
Experience using Catia V5 or similar CAD software
Experience using Solumina G8 or similar
Demonstrated understanding of root cause / corrective action processes and techniques
Experience using RCCA tools such as Five Why, Pareto, fishbone, etc.
Experience drafting, maintaining, and modifying work instructions and/or process specifications
