Northrop Grumman is seeking Engineers to join the Aeronautics Systems Sector Intern Program. This position will be located in El Segundo or Palmdale, CA.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Mission Assurance organization and will work in a dynamic people-focused environment where he/she will interact with users, customers and other developers.

As an intern, you’ll participate in a summer internship program to develop competencies in a variety of quality engineering specializations that may include:

  • Performs a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, or optical areas.

  • Constructs, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, tests, and maintains equipment, components, devices, or systems.

  • Works from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.

  • Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format.

  • Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions.

Basic Qualifications

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

  • Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND graduating after August 2026.

  • Be majoring in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.

  • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2026

  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite). 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher.

  • Previous internship/co-op experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular)

  • Preferred degrees are are Physics, Math, Chemistry or similar.

Intern Pay Range:

  • Undergraduate degrees (Including graduating students planning on attending/enrolled in a full-time Master’s program): $20.50 to $38.00 per hour

  • Master’s: $29.75 to $46.75 per hour 

At Northrop Grumman, our internship pay rates and standardized and take into account three main factors: the anticipated graduation date of the individual, the cost of labor of the geographic location, and whether the internship is considered technical or administrative.
