Senior Production Engineer – Avionics (m/f/d)

Mission Brief

As a Senior Production Engineer – Avionics, you are the technical authority and process owner for the assembly, testing, and industrialization of avionics and wiring harness components.
You lead the transition from prototype development to robust, high-volume series production and ensure that the avionics systems meet stringent requirements for performance, safety, and reliability of launch operations and spacecraft manufacturing.
Working closely with development, quality, and supply chain and external suppliers to deliver scalable, efficient, and highly reliable avionics production processes.
Our machinery includes only state-of-the-art machines and equipment, as well as the latest additive manufacturing processes.

Your Role in Our Space Mission:

• Own the end to end manufacturing process for avionics assemblies and electrical harnesses, including routing, termination, integration, and acceptance testing.
• Lead industrialization and New Product Introduction (NPI) for new avionics systems, including PFMEA, control plans, process capability studies, and validation
• Own cost and schedule planning for avionics production, including forecasting, optimization, and continuous improvement of takt time, throughput, and resource utilization and manage investments for the complete production line.
• Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers, R&D teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of harness assembly processes into product development and production and to define test requirements and procedures
• Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and calibration of harness assembly equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity
• Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors

Qualification Checklist

• Degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent education
• Professional experience in avionics, harness manufacturing, electrical integration, or high-reliability production environments.
• Proven process ownership in an industrial environment (preferably aerospace, defence, EV, or similarly regulated industry).
• Deep understanding of harness design, connectors, shielding, routing rules, termination methods, testing, and integration.
• Experience with procedure creation / re-structuring in an assembly environment
• Experience in lean manufacturing, risk assessment
• Knowledge/understanding of PLM and/or MES systems in assembly environments
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex assembly issues
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Project management skills, including effective communication skilll
• Fluent English, German knowledge is a plus

Bonus Skills

• Previous experience in a similar position as process engineer or assembly engineer
• Aerospace experience, preferably with electrical vehicle development
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory related to harness assembly (e.g. IPC/WHMA-A-620)
• Prior experience using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, programming language (e.g. Python/C++) or similar
• Ability to read P&ID and Fluid Drawings
