
Manager Propulsion Valves (m/f/d)
Job Description
Mission Brief
As Team Lead, Propulsion Valves, you will be responsible for the design and development of valves and other fluid control components of the engine and on-board fluid system including design, manufacturing, and testing.
Your Role in Our Space Mission
- Be responsible for developing the technological roadmap, design tools and fluid control hardware and fulfilling and/or delivering it according to the timelines of the company
- Lead, coordinate and coach the Propulsion Valve Team. This includes recruitment, performance evaluations and growth-management
- Collaborate with other Propulsion teams as well as other Launch Vehicle teams to improve processes and to ensure product integration
- Collaborate with manufacturing team to ensure that the designs are successfully translated into hardware
- Manage short and long term development schedules of engine and fluid system valves and other fluid control components
- Plan and organize test campaigns, design changes / iterations and test / data reviews
- Decide for hiring and technological decisions of propulsion valve related topics
- Report directly to Director Propulsion
- Coordinate team’s work packages and track system development progress
- Act as a role model for own and other teams portraying a positive image and a superb work ethic
Qualification Checklist
- Master’s degree or higher in an Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar Engineering
- At least 5 years of experience in rocket propulsion / fluid control equipment development
- Demonstrated expertise in cryogenic propulsion systems and especially in valves and fluid control equipment, proven involvement in practical development activities
- Demonstrated deep domain knowledge with fluid control design, development and testing
- Experience with leading a multi-disciplinary team
- Hands-on experience on rocket propulsion development
- Proven success in developing complex systems
- Proven ability to manage risk and uncertainty for self and team within a dynamic priority-setting environment
- Initiative, autonomy, and self-development
- Passion for rocket propulsion and space
- Ability to effectively collaborate on multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams
- Highly organized and proactive with high attention to detail
- Technical presentation and reporting skills
- Fluent in English and in German
