Founding Engineer
Job Description
We're hiring a Founding Engineer to architect the durable runtimes that will power the back-office of billion-dollar CPG brands.
If you want to build the agentic platform that runs the next generation of consumer brands, click this link to apply.
đ The Opportunity
Corvera is the AI agent workforce for CPG back-office.
Today, every CPG brand runs on humans stitching together emails, spreadsheets, ERPs, and retailer portals. It's slow, error-prone, and unscalable with headcount growing linearly with revenue. Corvera replaces that with an AI workforce, helping brands grow profits by up to 40%.
This isn't another plug-and-play SaaS tool. We're building the AI-native operating system designed first and foremost for AI agents, for the world's most ambitious CPG brands.Â
Our near-term vision: enable the next billion-dollar CPG brand to be built by fewer than 10 people. Ultimately: a fully agentic CPG brand house at greater scale than Nestlé, PepsiCo, and Unilever with almost double the margins.
đ Where We Are Now
- $0 to $35K MRR in 2 months, with customer demand outpacing capacity
- Backed by Y Combinator (W26), top 10% of the batch
- $6.3M raised since October 2025, from leading VCs such as Firstminute Capital, 6 Degrees Capital, 20VC, Rebel Fund, and Y Combinator
We've proven the urgency. Now we need your help to build the platform that scales it 100x.
đ§ The Role
While our Forward Deployed Engineers go from customer problem to shipped workflow in hours, you'll build the platform underneath that serves them.Â
You will own the systems that ensure that Corvera works at 4am on a Monday with a queue full with hundreds of mission-critical jobs and an ERP returning 429s.
In your first 30 days you'll likely ship a major feature that makes our system more resilient, more scalable and delivers value to our customers.
đ What You'll Actually Build
Youâll help us solve hard engineering problems including:Â
- Durable agent runtimes. Every chat, cron, email, and Slack thread runs through ephemeral agent sandboxes which then stream tool calls across multiple channels. We need to ensure a turn can pause for hours, survive shutdowns, and resume across deployments. You'll architect and ship it.
- One agent loop, many channels. Chat, email, Slack, cron, and tasks all reuse the same agentic launcher. New channels should ship in days, not weeks.
- Enterprise integrations, productized. NetSuite, Shopify, Xero, Walmart, Target, Amazon, ShipHero, and many more - wrapped behind one provider interface and exposed to the agent through MCP, with in-loop credential refresh.
- Ontology - the brand's business model in writing. A queryable, governed source of truth for what each customer actually means by "forecast", "SKU", or "fiscal year-end". Mappings, calendar rules, metric definitions, constraints, full lineage back to the source file and download time. You'll design the schema and the APIs agents query against it - so business logic stops being re-derived in every spreadsheet.
- Orchestration that never drops the ball. Schedules, retries, durable execution, full run history, replay, alerts, version control. Every workflow is observable and recoverable - so a Wednesday failure isn't discovered on Friday.
- Observability across the stack. A turn's full lifecycle inspectable from a single trace ID across Vercel, Render, Daytona/Blaxel, etc.
đȘ The Stack
- Backend: Python 3.12, FastAPI, MCPs, Render
- Frontend: Next.js 16, React 19, Vercel AI SDK, Tailwind, shadcn, Vercel
- Data: Supabase / Postgres, Upstash Redis (Streams + KV)
- Sandboxes: Daytona, Blaxel microVMs, local
- External: Anthropic, AgentMail, QStash, Slack Events API, Composio
- Observability: Grafana
- Repo: Turborepo, pnpm, GitHub Actions, isolated PR previews (frontend + backend + DB branch per PR)
𧏠What We're Looking For
We care more about how you think and what you've shipped than what's on your CV. That said, this role has a real bar - you'll have unreasonable leverage from week one.
You're a great fit if youâve got significant experience in these domains:
- Distributed systems, durability, resilience. Idempotency, exactly-once, sagas, durable execution (Temporal / Inngest / Restate). Graceful degradation, retry semantics, circuit breakers, chaos engineering.
- AI agents. Agentic harnesses, context management, tools and MCPs, evals, observability, memory and continual learning, search and retrieval, knowledge graphs, coding agents.Â
- Data modelling and ontologies. Migrations, schema design, query plans, lock contention. You've modelled domains where business meaning was load-bearing: taxonomies, lineage, versioning, governed terms.
- Software architecture. You know when to apply architectural patterns including DDD, hexagonal, event-driven, state machines, modular monolith vs services, layered dependencies. SOLID and composition-over-inheritance are muscle memory. Refactors don't scare you.
- Testing and quality. TDD, integration, canaries, e2e - you know which to reach for.Â
- SRE and DevOps. Continuous delivery, blue/green or canary, feature flags, instant rollback. Dashboards, alerts, SLOs, preview envs. You've carried a pager.
- Enterprise integrations. ERP, 3PL, or retailer portal in your past. NetSuite, Shopify, Xero, SAP, Snowflake -Â any is a strong signal.
- Backend in Python. 4+ years of experience in production. FastAPI / asyncio fluency. You spot event-loop blockers in review.
- Frontend in TypeScript. 3+ years of experience shipping real Next.js or React.Â
- Operating velocity. AI-assisted dev as default - Claude Code, Cursor, Codex. You dream of building a dark factory.
đ« This role is not for you if
- You're looking for a 9â5 (by default we work 996).
- You optimize for elegance over impact.
- You need heavy structure or management to be effective.
- You want the system settled before you join. Itâs your job to build it.
- You think "the agent did it" is a satisfactory excuse in a post-mortem.
đ Why Join
We can say all the standard stuff. That youâll get full ownership, exposure to real customers, and that weâre at a critical inflection point. This is all true.
But the real reason is that we are genuinely a great bunch to work with. The current team (4 of us) live together. Not because we have to, but because we want to. We trust each other entirely and the last thing any of us want is to let each other down. We run, travel, and go clubbing together. So there's nothing more important than only inviting people who add to that energy.
You wouldn't be forced to move in with us, but you'll probably want to.
We offer meaningful equity and a competitive package. Range: $200â300K p.a. base salary + 0.5-1% equity with scope to negotiate higher for the best candidates.Â
If you're looking for the ride of a lifetime, you'll fit right in.
đ„ Who Are We
We're founded by Christopher Kong (2x Founder; ex-CEO at Better Nature; Forbes 30U30), Dirk Breeuwer (ex-Google Data & AI Lead), and Matthew Collins (ex-Head of Product at Rosemark; Princeton MEng in CS).
Our mission is bold: to give CPG brands hands-free supply chains that run themselves through Corvera, their go-to AI-native operating system.
Our vision is even bolder: to be the orchestration layer of the $5.4T global CPG industry.
