
SLS First-Line Production Engineering Manager

The Boeing CompanyBoeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SIWS) is seeking a First-Line Production Engineering Manager to lead a hands-on engineering team that directly supports rocket manufacturing and assembly for the Space Launch System (SLS) at Kennedy Space Center, Florida. This is an opportunity to influence how giant, precision cryogenic structures are built, integrated, and delivered on schedule and to spec.
In this role, you will coach and develop engineers and technicians, drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, uphold the highest standards for quality and safety, and work cross-functionally with manufacturing, design, quality, and suppliers to remove production barriers.
Position Responsibilities:
Manage, develop and motivate Production Engineering employees to achieve their best as individuals and as a team responsible for the development, sustainment, and continuous improvement of production.
Partner with Integrated Product Team (IPT) to support and improve the production system
Lead projects supporting key company priorities; projects may include but are not limited to: stabilize and improve efficiency of the production system and equipment, enable rate increases on our production lines, and manage the incorporation of product and process changes into the production system
Responsible for the architecture for the build, which includes production simulations and lean implementation of affordable and safe production processes
Oversee the program Design and Build Integration which includes creation and integration of the manufacturing build plan
Ensure the complete Production System is documented within the SLS Manufacturing Plan, Environmental Safety and Health assessments, build architecture and flow, dimensional management, tooling,fabrication, and assembly build plans
Responsible for final bill of material reconciliation and documentation of the completed product

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science from an accredited course of study, in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
Experience leading teams in a formal and /or informal leadership role
Experience in a role that required excellent communication, project management, presentation, and facilitation skills
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience with manufacturing engineering and work instruction release process
Experience in engineering leadership or engineering in aerospace
Production Engineering experience
Material Review Board certification or experience
Excellent communications skills, verbal and written
Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of management, customers, and partners
Master of Science in an engineering discipline
Previous management experience.
Ability to build a safe environment of inclusion, transparency, and trust
Leadership skills to lead and influence positive outcomes
Previous experience in leading, mentoring, and engaging individuals and teams
Experience providing active mentorship and career guidance
Can up-level existing team by hiring high performance talent, growing leaders and helping underperforming members

Experience with ADO (Azure DevOps)
