
Senior Special Test Equipment Project Engineer

The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Special Test Equipment Project Engineer to join the team in El Segundo, California.
This role is for the Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) Special Test Equipment (STE) team. The Project Engineer will be assigned to multiple programs (both commercial and government) and projects. The STE Project Engineer leads their team through the design and delivery of test hardware, software, and systems to meet program test requirements. Serving as the focal point for STE resources; the engineer drives anomaly resolution during STE operations and oversees the integration of both recurring and non‑recurring engineering into test system designs.
Position Responsibilities:
Cross‑functional coordination within BT&E and collaboration with other Space Mission Systems stakeholders to ensure successful STE development and mission‑critical test support
Schedule development and execution through metrics development and reporting
Management of Risks, Issues, and Opportunities (RIO)
Lead others in the development of standard test methods and processes and applies advanced test technologies to create or improve test methods
Cost estimating - prepares Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) proposals and presents to internal management and external customer
Utilizes project management best practices to standardize workflows and develop the team’s project management capabilities
Reviews critical procedures to identify potential problems and resolve issues
Oversees the integration of new design and manufacturing techniques into test hardware/system designs
Analyzes processes for potential improvements and recommends associated changes
Develops standard policies for post-test activity
Works with the enterprise test and engineering group to standardize evaluation techniques
Formulates expectations for test data for new or unique tests
Leads change initiatives by assessing stakeholder impact, creating communication, adoption plans, tracking post-change adoption and outcomes
Establishes and maintains project baselines for scope, schedule, cost, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), documents assumptions and approvals, and manages controlled changes with variance analysis and leadership reporting
Facilitates structured lessons-learned sessions, producing actionable reports, and tracks implementation of improvements and realized benefits
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required
This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
3+ years of experience in Program Management including cost, schedule, and technical environment
3+ years of experience leading and partnering with cross-functional teams, involving key stakeholder relationship management
Experience with data analytics platforms, reporting tools, and data visualization (SQL, Tableau, Python, Excel, or equivalent
10+ years of experience working with MS Office Suite, such as Word, Excel and MS Project
Experience in a role that required strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively brief and collaborate with various stakeholders, including management, program offices, and military personnel
Experience in leading people and large teams with the ability to engage, guide, develop, motivate and support team members
Experience performing quantitative and qualitative analyses, problem-solving, and making independent decisions
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent project management certification
5+ years of project management experience, including direct oversight of test or engineering teams
Knowledge of test processes and methodologies (functional, integration, system, regression, and acceptance testing
Prior experience managing software development projects as a project manager, including coordination with development teams, release planning, and software delivery/ deployment oversight
Prior experience developing special test equipment or custom instrumentation to support complex test requirements

Summary Pay Range: $146,200 - $197,800
