Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), The Boeing Space & Mission Systems (SMS) Chief Engineering Department is seeking a Senior Space Communications Program Chief Engineer (Level M) in El Segundo, California.


This role plays a critical leadership role across multiple proprietary Space Mission Systems (SMS) satellite programs assuring quality engineering in design, build, delivery, issue and risk management of space systems. This engineering management position sets the vision and implements the strategies for creating an engineering center of excellence for a future proprietary portfolio of satellite products.


Position Responsibilities:   

  • Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is required

  • Chief Engineer to lead capture and execution of large program in Space Communications Portfolio

  • Work across capabilities to ensure the skills needed to perform the design and build of complex space system programs

  • Experience in program startup and baselining

  • Experience in risk and issue management processes and execution

  • Experience with customer interactions and program campaign engagement

  • Experience in engineering trade processes and baseline control

  • Experience working with program management and finance to ensure execution to program planning

  • Experience working anomalies with root cause corrective action (RCCA) processes

  • Experience with major suppliers on a program and management of their specifications and engineering deliveries


This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location option.


Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 10+ years of experience in space systems development

  • Engineering leadership or chief engineer experience


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams

  • Strong Communication, Adaptability, Decision Making, Customer Focus, Integrated Systems, Engineering Analysis, and Requirements/Tracing skillset

Summary pay range: $212,500 - $287,500
