Company:

The Boeing Company

Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Roll Form Operator A to join our Fabrication team in Auburn, Washington.

As a vital member of our team, you will bring precision and technical expertise to the heart of our manufacturing process, shaping complex metal components that form the backbone of our aircraft. Your role goes beyond machine operation—you will ensure every step, from interpreting detailed work orders to fine-tuning equipment settings, is executed with meticulous attention to safety and quality. Collaborating closely with engineers, supervisors, and fellow operators, you will help maintain a smooth workflow, troubleshoot challenges, and uphold the highest standards in material handling and part inspection. This position demands a hands-on approach, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the ability to lead and support others in a dynamic, safety-conscious environment.

You will play a critical role in upholding our commitment to safety and quality standards, ensuring that all operations meet regulatory compliance and operational excellence. If you are detail-oriented, possess strong technical skills, and thrive in a collaborative environment, we invite you to apply and be a part of our mission to deliver excellence in aviation.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Obtain work package from ready-to-work rack, assigned by Team Lead/Supervisor, or review tie-in from prior operator for previously set-up jobs.

  • Review Work Order (W/O) to determine work requirements; verify correct materials issued; obtain drawings, templates, and Manufacturing Enhanced Data Sheets (MEDS).

  • Perform safety checks on machine and work area: clear obstacles, verify power switch status, ensure safety guards installed, and check for pinch points or obstructions.

  • Check fluid levels (hydraulic oil, grease) and contact maintenance/facilities for refills as needed.

  • Download NC/CNC programs to machine controller; initiate roll forming operations per drawings; modify programs as necessary.

  • Set rolls to establish multi-axis values; adjust dies to maintain contour, flatness, and angularity; hand-finish parts using appropriate tools (e.g., steel hammer, rubber mallet, arbor press, foot shrinker).

  • Select and install proper machine accessories (rolls, dies, guide blocks, cams, shims); identify, fabricate, and lay out fixtures, shop aids, templates, guide blocks, shoes, shims, or other aids upon approval.

  • Record roll settings and sequences for future reference.

  • Handle materials carefully to minimize scratches and damage; use overhead crane and other material handling equipment (e.g., man aboard stacker) as required.

  • Transport finished parts using appropriate equipment.

  • Ensure all detail parts are correctly identified and marked per specifications (e.g., part number, RAMAC number).

  • Use precision measuring tools and templates to check own work and that of lower-classified employees; verify parts meet quality specifications.

  • Check first parts of own work and assigned employees’ work for quality compliance.

  • Interface with engineers, suppliers, and planning personnel on process or job-related issues.

  • Contact fellow workers, Team Lead, or Supervisor when assistance is needed or problems arise.

  • Perform hand work necessary to complete assignments using hand and power tools.

  • Occasionally set up and operate other machines in the work area (e.g., drill press, saw, shrinker, disc sander, shear).

  • Maintain tool certification as required.

  • Perform on-line computer work using CMES upon job completion.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials (e.g., oil coolants, shop towels) in an approved manner.

  • Set up, operate, and adjust rolls; lead assigned employees of lower classification engaged in roll setup and operation.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:
