This role is part of Blue Origin corporate functions, providing centralized support across Blue Origin business unit teams, functions, and locations.
Job Summary
As the Principal, Financial Systems, you will partner closely with the Accounting and Finance leaders in executing the strategic direction, architecture, reliability, and continuous enhancement of financial systems that support corporate accounting operations, government compliance, and M&A integration activities. This is a high-ownership role with the opportunity to solve problems, own our ERP system architecture, and leverage technology to drive better decision-making.
Job Responsibilities
Financial Systems Leadership & Architecture:
Own the end-to-end architecture, roadmap, reliability, and performance of financial systems, with primary focus on Microsoft D365 implementation and transition from Deltek Costpoint.
Lead the simplification of new ERP (D365) processes that better align with the business needs. Ensure appropriate SOX controls are established around the data integration in and out of D365.
Lead system design for project accounting, MRP drivers, allocations, full cycle inventory and fixed asset processes.
Lead our D365 implementation and provide direction to implementation partners, including system and module configurations, customizations, integrations, upgrades and extensibility
Oversee and manage day-to-day issue resolution for Costpoint and D365.
Own and maintain internal controls around D365 and Costpoint.
Oversee all financial system audits.
Own and maintain and enhancements of the policies and procedures to remain audit-ready at all times.
Maintain status of government compliance deliverables (incurred cost submissions, forward pricing, etc.) and company’s Accounting.
Automation and Innovation:
Partner with stakeholder across business operations as well as back office functions, including IT, Finance, BI, Reporting, Tax and Accounting.
Experience owning ERP systems within a manufacturing environment
Promote consistency and best practices across business units.
Identify, prioritize, and execute process automation and efficiency initiatives across finance and accounting.
Lead system integration and IT controls for M&A activity:
Lead exploration of new capabilities, including AI within the Accounting function.
Direct all ad hoc reporting requests for the Sr. Leadership team and users.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Computer Science or Systems with 10+ years' experience.
Minimum of five years of leadership experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
Experience with financial systems governance and protocols.
Extensive experience with ERP implementations.
Knowledge of government contracting requirements (DCAA, DCMA, FAR, CAS).
Experience supporting audits and maintaining compliant, audit-ready processes.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and technical guidance (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 842).
Proven ability to drive process improvements, system enhancements, and automation.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred
Experience with Microsoft D365 and Deltek Costpoint.
Experience with system implementations, integrations, and M&A activities.
Experience in a defense or government contracting environment.
Master's degree in relevant field.
CPA, CISA or equivalent.
Compensation Range for:
CA applicants is $169,624.00 - $237,473.25 WA applicants is $169,624.00 - $237,473.25Other site ranges may differ

Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical

Stock Options for all regular employees (working at least 20 hours/week)
