At Leya, we are building the world's best AI assistant for lawyers, helping them with anything from legal research, drafting, review, and day-to-day tasks.
We are assembling an exceptional team to become the leading authority in Legal AI. In 3 months, we’ve gone from 0 to over 50 firms using Leya, and we will grow significantly in 2024. This is an opportunity to join a YC startup with clear PMF that is going after a massive market.

Empowering lawyers with technology
The idea for Leya came about when our lawyer friends voiced their dissatisfaction about having to read through hundreds of pages just to answer a simple legal query. We believe that lawyers shouldn't be drowning in paperwork, but should instead use technology to focus on higher-value tasks.
That's why we're turning the raw power of AI into something useful and enjoyable for lawyers, building the future of legal work starting with an honest AI assistant.
Our team includes hackers, deep learning researchers, front-end wizards, and product designers, all with exceptional enthusiasm for what we are building. We currently have offices in Stockholm and Kraków, but we’re also open to remote work.
Some of our obsessions are:
- How can we create a legal AI assistant that can effectively answer any legal question, just like an experienced lawyer?
- How can we make interacting with AI intuitive while maintaining the workflow that lawyers have perfected over centuries?
- How can we uncover and harness the magic inherent in AI?
This is built and delivered with love, coffee, NextJS + Postgres + Weaviate + Azure OpenAI + self written logic for load balancing OpenAI calls, agent tools, etc!
Founders
Max is the CEO and co-founder of Leya, where he focuses on developing trustworthy AI assistants for lawyers. Prior to Leya, Max contributed to growth initiatives at two Y Combinator startups, worked at McKinsey, engaged in venture capital, and served as a software developer at Abios (acquired by Kambi) and Ericsson. He earned two degrees in machine learning and business from Sweden's top two universities, KTH and SSE, in parallel whilst working full-time.
Family tech support. I can reset grandparents' forgotten email passwords, and I plug in the HDMI for siblings. Graduated from Hyper Island and worked as a full-stack developer at startups since. Founded the first-ever Mexican hops company, but currently building the future of legal work at Leya (W24).
