We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Quality Systems Engineer to lead the architecture, standardization, and continuous improvement of our enterprise Quality Management System (QMS). This senior individual contributor will drive transformation initiatives to ensure alignment with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards, building a scalable, data-driven quality framework across the organization.

This role operates at the intersection of quality, engineering, and operations, enhancing process consistency, documentation usability, and system effectiveness. The ideal candidate will also define and govern information architecture and content strategy for internal documentation systems, enabling efficient knowledge transfer, audit readiness, and improved diagnosability and serviceability.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead enterprise-wide QMS transformation and standardization initiatives across product lines, engineering, and support functions
  • Influence cross-functional teams to adopt consistent processes, quality practices, and knowledge systems
  • Serve as a senior technical authority on quality systems, process governance, and documentation architecture
  • Architect and maintain a centralized, controlled repository for process documentation, templates, and standards
  • Define and implement information architecture and content strategy for internal documentation systems
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 requirements, including document control, traceability, revision management, and records retention
  • Design intuitive site maps, user flows, and documentation structures
  • Establish enterprise process frameworks that reduce reliance on inconsistent or informal practices
  • Define project scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and task assignments
  • Monitor progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies
  • Ensure deliverables meet quality standards and organizational requirements
  • Evaluate outcomes, capture lessons learned, and drive continuous improvement
  • Develop training materials and continuous learning programs for employees
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer to ensure awareness of QMS updates and process improvements
  • Analyze documentation usability and implement enhancements based on user feedback
  • Analyze workflows and user behavior to improve efficiency and accessibility
  • Conduct usability testing to refine information architecture and documentation systems
  • Partner with engineering and support teams to improve diagnosability, serviceability, and product quality

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 12–15 years of experience in Quality Systems, Systems Engineering, or enterprise process architecture
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 standards and audit practices
  • Deep understanding of QMS frameworks, configuration management, and process governance
  • Experience designing and managing information architecture and content strategy
  • Proven ability to develop training, onboarding, and continuous learning programs
  • Expertise in usability analysis, workflow optimization, and process improvement
  • Demonstrated success collaborating across engineering and support teams
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project, Smartsheet)
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder influence capabilities
