Job Description
About Somethings
Somethings is building the first social wellness platform for teens — a place where a teen can form a real relationship with a mentor who gets them, sticks with them, and helps them get better.
25 million teens in the U.S. are struggling with their mental health. Every one of the thousands of teens who downloads Somethings is struggling. Our job is to make sure they don't just show up — they stay, connect with real humans who care deeply about them, and get the support they need to thrive.
We're backed by General Catalyst and world-class healthcare + consumer investors, and we're growing like crazy — in 2025 we grew 1100%, raised our $15M Series A, and are on track to 5x in 2026.
If you want to be part of the generationally defining company in mental health, welcome home.
Role Overview
We're looking for a Head of Product to own the product function for the Somethings Mentorship product.
This is a company-defining leadership position for a senior product leader who is equally comfortable setting multi-year product strategy and sitting in a spec doc at 11pm making sure the details are right.
Over the next 12 months, you will report directly to the CEO and own product across:
our teen mobile experience and mentor web platform
4–6 parallel product squads
2+ PMs you'll hire, develop, and lead
new product lines as Somethings expands beyond mentorship
This role is 50/50 IC and leadership from day one. You are not stepping into a fully staffed function. You are building it — while simultaneously running it.
You will directly shape the product that helps struggling teens stay, connect, and genuinely get better. And then you will build the team and systems that scale that mission across everything Somethings becomes.
What You'll Do
1. Own product strategy across the full company
Define and evolve a clear multi-year product vision across all product lines
Make hard prioritization calls — across squads, across lines of business, with incomplete information
Connect every roadmap decision to company objectives and D90 outcomes
Represent product strategy in executive, board, and enterprise partner conversations
2. Lead and develop the product team
Manage and develop 1–2 PMs — provide direction, feedback, and a model of what great product leadership looks like
Build a product culture of high craft, high agency, and genuine curiosity about users
Establish the operating cadences, rituals, and decision frameworks that allow 4–6 squads to move fast in the same direction
Hire great PMs as the team grows — define the bar and build the pipeline
3. Drive execution clarity across 4–6 squads
Ensure designers and engineers always know what matters most, why, and what success looks like
Translate strategy into crisp, testable product requirements with clear success metrics
Keep the roadmap far enough ahead to unblock engineering and design at all times
Reduce friction, rework, and ambiguity across teams — create momentum, not process
4. Champion users across everything
Lead and synthesize user research across squads to keep the product grounded in real teen and mentor needs
Ensure every feature is informed by qualitative insight, behavioral data, and genuine user empathy
Raise the quality bar on product craft, usability, and emotional resonance across every surface
Partner with clinical operations to ensure product decisions are safe, responsible, and trust-building
Who You Are
8+ years of product management experience, with at least 3 years in a senior product leadership role
You have led multiple product squads simultaneously — you know how to create coherence, not just coordination
You have managed and developed PMs — you know what great looks like and how to build toward it
You have built or scaled products at early-stage startups — you are comfortable with ambiguity, rapid iteration, and building process as you go
You are genuinely 50/50 IC and leader — you want to be in the details and in the strategy conversation, often on the same day
You have strong design sensibility and product taste — you recognize great work and push teams toward higher quality
You are deeply data-driven — you live in dashboards and care about moving real metrics, especially retention
You are a clear, direct, and compelling communicator — you can turn complexity into clarity for engineers, designers, executives, and enterprise partners
You are mission-driven in a real way — you wake up wanting to build things that make life materially better for struggling teenagers
How We Work
We're building a culture that blends high performance, deep belonging, and radical clarity:
We care about outcomes, not theatrics
We move quickly and learn constantly
We speak the truth early
We protect focus
We hold a high bar for craft and quality
We're small, intense, collaborative, and mission-driven
We care about each other, and we care about the millions of teens we serve
The Head of Product will be a central culture leader — building bridges across product, design, engineering, clinical, and operations, and helping multiple teams ship great work in concert.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position in person 5 days per week in our NYC office in Williamsburg.
Remote considered for truly exceptional candidates.
Output-driven culture with flexibility where it supports life and excellence.
What We Offer
💰 The annual salary range for this position is $200,000–$235,000.
📈 Significant equity compensation, reflecting your foundational role and impact.
🏥 Comprehensive health insurance coverage.
🎯 Full ownership of product strategy, roadmap, and team building.
🎉 Unlimited days off.
Job level and actual compensation will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process, market demands, and specific work location. The listed range is a guideline and may be modified.
Equal Opportunity Employer

We believe that innovation thrives on teams where everyone can be their authentic selves, bringing unique perspectives and backgrounds to the table. We are proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
