Job Description
The Mission
Drug discovery has a translation problem: more than 95% of drugs that succeed in animal models fail in humans. We're building the alternative: human-first drug discovery, powered by organoids and AI, running on real human biology from the very first experiment.
Our platform is 87% concordant with clinical patient data - a vast improvement over the 3% translational success rate of animals. We’ve demonstrated the ability to model immunotoxicology, immunogen stimulation, and two autoimmune diseases with more on the way. Numerous pharma partners including 3 Fortune 500 companies are already using the platform. We've raised ~$30M from AIX Ventures, Marc Benioff, Jeff Dean, and Y Combinator. With the FDA Modernization Act 3.0 and the FDA's March 2026 validation framework, the regulatory tailwinds only continue to get stronger.
The opportunity ahead of the company is generational: build the first scaled engine for generating real human biological data, and use it to fundamentally change how medicines are discovered.
What you'll own
Office & Facilities. Vendor and supply management, mail and shipping, visitor and guest coordination, and everyday systems that make the Brisbane office a place people want to work. As the team grows and the space evolves, this role shapes how the team and space grow with the rest of the company.
Onboarding & Offboarding. Own the in-person operational aspects of the employee lifecycle, coordinating with People Ops and IT on the rest, ensuring each new hire's first day feels welcoming and well-prepared.
Compliance & Risk. Support employer compliance, labor law filings and requirements, coordinating with Finance and external partners on filings and deadlines.
Operational Excellence. Maintain strong documentation and follow-through, including accurate records, current checklists, and clear handoffs between People Ops, IT Ops, and Finance Ops, and steadily raise the bar for how the organization runs as it grows.
Why this role is different
This is a hands-on execution role, and it's also a foundational one. The work isn't only about keeping things running today; it's about helping define how they run as the company grows into greater scale and complexity. The early work is direct and tangible, closing requests directly rather than routing them, and that grounding is exactly what positions the role to build the systems and standards the next stage of the company will rely on.
The scope spans facilities, people ops, compliance, and finance, often within the same day, with the autonomy to own outcomes rather than tasks and the trust to make real decisions. For the right person, that breadth is the appeal: few roles offer this clear a view of how an entire organization fits together, or this much influence over how well it works.
The environment is fast-paced, which means ambiguity, shifting priorities, and greenfield space to grow. This is a strong fit for someone energized by bringing order to that and by building something that lasts beyond a single to-do list, and a weaker fit for someone who prefers an established playbook handed to them.
What we're looking for
Experience & Track Record
-
3+ years in office management or operations, ideally at a startup through a period of growth
-
A record of owning office and administrative operations end to end, with minimal oversight
-
Experience across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, and access management, is a plus
Operational & Compliance Depth
-
Working knowledge of employer compliance obligations: state registrations, filings, labor law requirements, and government portals
-
Fluency with HRIS, IT, and finance platforms (Rippling, Google Workspace, Slack, 1Password, expense tools), or a demonstrated ability to learn new systems quickly
-
A documentation-first instinct and the discipline to keep records, checklists, and inventories accurate and current
Ownership Mentality
-
A builder's approach: designing processes, documenting them, and taking on the work that sits between defined roles
-
Sharp attention to detail, and a habit of resolving issues before they need to be escalated
-
The initiative to see what needs doing and do it, without waiting to be asked
