Community Manager
Job Description
About Fort
Fort is a San Francisco-based wearables company.
We are building a premium health tracking device for people who want to keep their bodies strong and capable for life. Fort helps people understand their training, recovery, and progress in a way that feels clear, useful, and motivating.
We care about creating a product and brand that feel refined, human, and deeply useful: part health companion, part beautiful object, part new ritual for strength and longevity.
About the role
Fort is looking for a Community Manager to bring the brand to life through intimate, thoughtful real-world experiences.
This role is for someone who understands the feeling of a great room: the right people, the right setting, the right energy, and the small details that make guests feel welcomed and cared for.
You’ll create and host Fort experiences across fitness, wellness, strength, recovery, and product education. These may include training sessions, prototype feedback gatherings, coach salons, boutique gym events, creator workouts, recovery pop-ups, private dinners, or small community meetups.
The goal is to make Fort feel real, desirable, and trusted, while turning each experience into meaningful relationships, customer insight, and beautiful content.
The kind of person we’re looking for
- You have a natural sense for hosting.
- You know how to make people feel comfortable, included, and excited to be part of something early.
- You have strong taste and care about details: the venue, the guest list, the lighting, the follow-up, the way people are greeted, and the way the experience is remembered afterward.
- You are organized, warm, socially intuitive, and reliable.
- You can represent Fort with polish and credibility in rooms with customers, coaches, creators, athletes, studio owners, and wellness partners.
What You’ll Do
Create thoughtful Fort experiences
- Plan and host small Fort gatherings, workouts, feedback sessions, wellness moments, community events, and brand activations.
- Design experiences that feel intimate, elevated, and genuinely useful, never generic or overly corporate.
- Think through the full guest experience: invitation, arrival, flow, conversation, product interaction, content moments, and follow-up.
- Make people feel welcomed, considered, and excited to stay close to Fort.
Build relationships in fitness and wellness
- Develop relationships with boutique gyms, luxury gyms, private training studios, wellness centers, recovery spaces, coaches, creators, athletes, and local fitness communities.
- Help Fort understand where our early customers spend time, who they trust, what they care about, and how they talk about training, health, recovery, and longevity.
- Act as a thoughtful ambassador for Fort in the fitness and wellness world.
Capture the feeling of the room
- Make sure each event creates value beyond the moment itself.
- Plan simple content capture before each event: photos, short clips, guest quotes, founder content, testimonials, customer stories, and social moments.
- Notice the useful details: what people react to, what they ask about, what feels exciting, what feels confusing, and what language they use.
- Create post-event recaps with what happened, who attended, what we learned, what content was captured, and what relationships or opportunities to follow up on.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience creating events, brand experiences, community gatherings, wellness pop-ups, boutique fitness events, run clubs, creator events, ambassador programs, or hospitality-driven moments.
- A deep understanding of fitness and wellness culture. You do not need to be an elite coach, but you should be fluent in the world of training, recovery, strength, longevity, boutique gyms, and premium wellness.
- Strong hospitality instincts. You know how to make an experience feel personal, considered, and memorable.
- Excellent taste. You can tell when something feels special versus thrown together.
- Comfort with customers, coaches, creators, athletes, studio owners, and brand partners.
- Strong follow-through on guest lists, invitations, scheduling, venues, run-of-show, content capture, and post-event recaps.
- A genuine interest in aesthetics, health, strength, culture, and premium consumer brands.
Nice to Have
- You are a coach, trainer, athlete, creator, or active member of a strong local fitness community.
- You already have relationships with gyms, wellness spaces, coaches, creators, athletes, studio owners, or hospitality partners.
- You can capture photo/video content yourself, or you know how to coordinate someone who can.
- You have experience turning events into social content, email assets, founder content, investor updates, or customer stories.
- You have worked with premium fitness, wellness, beauty, fashion, hospitality, or consumer brands.
Who Will Love This Role
- Someone who loves creating beautiful experiences for people.
- Someone who notices the small details other people miss.
- Someone who can make a small room feel special.
- Someone who understands that community is built through trust, care, consistency, and taste.
- Someone who is comfortable moving between a gym, a dinner table, a wellness studio, a customer conversation, and a content shoot.
- Someone who cares about fitness and wellness, but knows how to make it feel inviting rather than intimidating.
Location
SF or NY preferred.
