The Project Engineer for our Products business line is responsible for serving as the bridge between technical engineering teams, program management, manufacturing, and testing to ensure programs and projects are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget.

The position reports to the VP of Product Design and is part of the Engineering department based in San Diego, CA. This role is fully onsite.

In this role, the essential functions are:

  • Act as the technical lead for assigned programs or projects, serving as the technical liaison between the Customer technical lead, program management, design engineering, systems engineering, manufacturing, and testing teams.
  • Ensure programs and projects satisfy technical requirements while meeting schedule milestones and completing within budget.
  • Ensure all subsystems integrate correctly within the overall system architecture.
  • Coordinate engineering changes, ensuring alignment with program requirements and schedule of constraints.
  • Support and enforce design reviews (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR) and gate reviews to validate technical maturity.
  • Prepare program execution plans, proposals, and engineering estimates, identifying technical and business resources needed
  • Ensure proper allocation and flow-down of system-level requirements to engineering teams.
  • Track compliance to requirements, ensuring traceability through the product lifecycle.
  • Support the development and execution of verification and validation (V&V) plans.
  • Finalize the derived requirements and entry into the Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM).
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks early through proactive risk management.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure technical requirements and quality standards are met.
  • Engage with customers, program managers, and executives to provide project updates and technical insights.
  • Capture, maintain and, close action items between engineering, customer and manufacturing.
  • Ensure that System level operating instructions, user guides or reference manuals are developed.
  • Ensure that all the technical artifacts and documents are committed into the established repository.

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience in a relevant field) in engineering or aerospace engineering with a minimum work experience of 2+ years with BS
  • Previous experience in developing and integrating hardware and software with various engineering disciplines including Mechanical, Electrical, RF, and Software
  • Familiarity with requirements management software (e.g. JAMA, DOORS, etc.)
  • Leadership experience and proven ability to lead projects to completion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Domain experience in one or more of the following is preferred: Satellite Communications, RF or processor PCBA design, Space electronics hardening, execution of government contracts

Travel, Physical and/or Government Mandated Requirements:

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

The good faith base salary range for this role is $125,000 – $175,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
