The Test Engineer for our Products business line is responsible for environmental testing (TVAC, Thermal, Vibe and Shock) of complex PCBAs, and working on new test architectures, plans and procedures.
The position reports to the VP of Product Design and is part of the Engineering department based in San Diego, CA. This role is fully onsite.
In this role, the essential functions are:
- Functional performance and environmental test architectures design, development, scheduling, and execution
- Development and tracking of test procedures, test plans and test schedule
- Report, discuss and document test results
- Review boards and system level functional specifications, design documents and project documents
- Participate in the review of design and coding of software products
- Ensure that all developed test protocols follow testing standards, and are documented
- Develop work estimates and status reports for each test effort
- Maintain adequate interaction with the project manager, the project engineer and project team members to ensure that tasks are being executed with appropriate priority and timing
- May lead and coordinate part of all the testing efforts for a project.

- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering;
- 8+ years’ experience in test engineering with demonstrated technical skills
- Expert level configuration of ATE components including rack instrumentation and PXI architectures.
- Excellent track record developing test automation software using LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Python, C#, Visual Basic.
- Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
- Experience with test tools and equipment, with emphasis on high end spectrum and vector network analyzers
- Experience writing and executing test procedures
- Strong documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks and basic mechanical engineering concepts related to bed of nail test fixtures design and construction.
- Previous experience testing RF devices operating in the S, X and Ka bands
- Previous experience in the Space industry and space rated components
- Previous exposure to optics and laser communication technologies
Travel, Physical and/or Government Mandated Requirements:
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
The good faith base salary range for this role is $125,000 – $175,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
