The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Training Specialist role is responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive safety and compliance programs across manufacturing and laboratory environments while directly executing field-based EHS functions including hazard identification, regulatory compliance, and emergency response.
The position reports to the Safety and Compliance Manager and will be located onsite in Penrose, CO and eventually transitioning to Pueblo, CO.
In this role, the essential functions are:
- Program Development & Regulatory Alignment: Design and manage comprehensive EHS training programs and technical materials that ensure organizational compliance with OSHA, ATF, DOT, and DoD regulations across all manufacturing and laboratory operations.
- Training Delivery & Safety Culture: Lead the delivery of instructor-led and field-based training—ranging from new hire onboarding to high-hazard explosives safety—while coaching personnel at all levels to reinforce a proactive safety culture.
- Field Validation & Compliance Documentation: Maintain a consistent presence in operational areas to evaluate training effectiveness, identify performance gaps, and manage the rigorous documentation and record-keeping required for regulatory audits.
- Operational EHS Support & Emergency Response: Directly execute EHS functions by conducting Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), supporting incident investigations, and responding to emergency or hazardous material incidents.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in EHS with 2 years of experience OR Master’s degree in EHS with 1 year of experience OR High School Diploma or Equivalent with 5 or more years of progressive experience in Environmental, Health & Safety training roles.
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering training programs in an industrial environment
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT HazMat, ATF explosives, and environmental regulations
- Ability to work effectively in both classroom and field environments
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience in chemical, space or defense manufacturing
- Successful candidates will possess a background in delivering high-hazard operational and emergency response training, complemented by experience supporting Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives.
Government Mandated Requirements:
- Candidates must meet all eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain applicable state and federal explosives licenses, including minimum age requirements (21 and over), a drug-free workplace in compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 (41 U.S.C. §§ 8101–8106), Executive Order 12564 (Drug-Free Federal Workplace), applicable Department of Defense directives including DoD Instruction 1010.09 and DFARS 252.226-7003 and successful completion of any legally required background investigations.
- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
The good faith base salary range for this role is $70,000-$100,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
