Job Description:
The Global Mobility Manager is responsible for leading and executing the organization’s global mobility strategy, ensuring effective, compliant, and employee-centric movement of talent across international locations. This role owns end-to-end program delivery, policy governance, vendor management, and continuous improvement of mobility processes.
Partnering closely with People Experience (HR), Legal, Tax, Finance, and business leaders, this role supports global workforce planning and deployment through scalable, well-executed mobility solutions. This is a hands-on role with accountability for operational excellence, stakeholder enablement, and data-driven decision support.
What you'll do:
Global Mobility Program Execution & Strategy Evolution
Own and drive the end-to-end execution of global mobility programs, focusing on operating and scaling an established program.
Lead day-to-day program delivery, including training, education, and consistent execution across regions (80% focus of role).
Evolve and scale mobility policies (e.g., long- and short-term assignments, permanent transfers, cross-border remote work) to ensure alignment with business needs and practical application (20% focus of role).
Establish and optimize scalable, repeatable processes across key mobility types, including long-term expatriate assignments, short-term assignments and secondments, intra-company transfers, permanent relocations, cross-border remote work, and PEO-to-entity transitions.
Drive continuous improvement using data, feedback, and operational insights to enhance efficiency, employee experience, and program impact.
Ensure programs are cost-effective, scalable, and aligned with talent strategy and workforce planning.
Evaluate and implement new mobility approaches (e.g., commuter or virtual assignments) to expand program capability.
Partner with Talent Acquisitions, and business leaders to ensure strong adoption and enablement of mobility programs across regions.
Balance global standardization with regional flexibility to ensure programs are both consistent and locally executable.
Compliance, Risk Management & Governance
Ensure compliance with immigration laws, tax regulations, and employment legislation across jurisdictions.
Partner with Legal and Tax teams to mitigate risks related to cross-border employment.
Maintain strong governance practices, including documentation, audit readiness, and policy controls.
Monitor regulatory changes and update programs accordingly.
Mobility Operations & Service Delivery
Oversee end-to-end mobility lifecycle: initiation, relocation, onboarding, assignment management, and repatriation.
Ensure high-quality employee experience for assignees and their families.
Manage relocation vendors and service providers (e.g., RMCs, immigration counsel, tax advisors).
Establish and monitor SLAs and KPIs for service delivery.
Stakeholder Partnership & Program Enablement
Partner with HRBPs, Talent Acquisition, Compensation, and business leaders to support global hiring and workforce deployment.
Advise stakeholders on mobility risks, costs, and best practices to inform decision -making.
Own training, education, and enablement of mobility programs to drive understanding, adoption, and consistent execution.
Lead change management efforts, including communication and stakeholder engagement, to support program rollout and scaling.
Serve as the primary escalation point, resolving mobility concerns and identifying root causes for improvement.
Reporting, Analytics & Cost Management
Develop and maintain dashboards and reports on global mobility activity, costs, trends, and compliance metrics.
Analyze trends to inform decisions and improve program outcomes.
Manage mobility budgets, forecasts, and cost projections.
Track ROI of mobility programs and identify cost optimization opportunities.
Ensure accurate reporting for internal stakeholders and external compliance requirements.
Vendor & Technology Management
Manage relationships with relocation management companies (RMCs), immigration providers, and tax vendors.
Evaluate vendor performance and conduct regular business reviews.
Lead implementation and optimization of mobility technologies and tools.
Drive automation and process improvements
Required qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
12+ years of experience in global mobility, international HR, or related field.
Strong knowledge of global mobility practices, including immigration, tax, and relocation.
Experience building and managing mobility programs across multiple regions.
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in a fast-growing, global organization (e.g., tech, multinational environment).
Experience implementing or optimizing global mobility technology platforms.
Exposure to equity compensation in a mobility context.
Experience supporting remote work and distributed workforce models.
Professional certifications (e.g., GMS – Global Mobility Specialist, SCRP).
