Hi, my name is Gabriel and I'm the co-founder of Y/n.

Y/n is an app where you can play fun interactive stories. For example, you can play a boarding school transfer student and get the boys to fall in love with you, or figure out a jailbreak with Sherlock Holmes. Your choices change the story and how characters feel about you (oops!) — so no two playthroughs are the same.

A few facts about Y/n:

• We launched 8 months ago and are already one of the top books apps in the world (reached #4 this month).
• On average, users spend almost 4 hours a day in the app.
• We raised $14M from top VCs.
• We're still a small team of 3 people.

Y/n’s goal is to create the most fun AI storyteller in the world. As a creative writer, at Y/n your job would be to teach our AI to be more entertaining.

It’s a new job, one that requires deep clarity about what makes for great writing. It’s also extremely fun. Not a lot of companies can pay you to work in writing, but we will!

What we expect from you:

• You’ve published fiction.
• You’ve taught others how to write fiction.
• You’re an avid reader of romance, fanfiction, or other pop genres.
• You're organized and can function well in an office setting.
• You're based in (or willing to relocate to) San Francisco or the UK.

Interview Process

• You send us an application with (1) your background in writing (2) a brief writing sample (3) what is your favorite book and why? (4) why do you think AIs struggle with creative writing?
• We review it and set up time to talk.
• We set up a paid work trial.

Then, we make a decision!
