We are looking for a Staff Electrical Test Engineer to join our team. You will lead the development and qualification testing of our Battery Management Systems (BMS), HV/LV power electronics, and power distribution hardware. You will be part of the Energy Storage and Power Systems (ESPS) Test team that leads end-to-end test campaigns for our aircraft's battery and power distribution systems.
Due to the nature of the work required for this position, this is an onsite opportunity. You will be required to work from our Mountain View office.
Responsibilities
Lead development and qualification test campaigns for safety-critical battery systems (BMS, HV/LV power electronics, and power distribution). Own the entire lifecycle from early-stage requirement analysis through test planning, asset development & commissioning, test execution, and final reporting.
Actively participate in design reviews, review Altium schematics and layouts, and provide proactive design feedback to ensure systems are optimized for test.
Interpret HW/SW Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to align test configurations with system-level interfaces.
Architect, write, and deploy automated test frameworks and scripts using Python and/or LabVIEW. Integrate off-the-shelf equipment and/or Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) into flexible, scalable test environments.
Drive cross-functional root cause analysis on complex hardware failures across PCBAs and electronic assemblies. Work closely with design, manufacturing, and quality engineering to implement robust, systemic solutions that prevent recurrence.
Lead, mentor, and guide junior and mid-level test engineers. Cultivate a culture of technical excellence, establish team-wide best practices for testing, and standardize debugging methodologies.
Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
8+ years of relevant work experience in aerospace and/or automotive testing or systems integration
Hands-on experience designing and assembling test assets or stations from scratch for entirely new hardware
Proficiency in writing test automation scripts with Python and/or LabVIEW
Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, and software Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
Ability to read and analyze electrical schematics and PCB layouts (Altium preferred)
Experience working with communication protocols such as CAN, I2C, SPI, isoSPI, and/or RS-485
Experience integrating off-the-shelf test equipment (power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.) and DAQs into test setups
Strong hardware debugging skills; software debugging skills are a significant plus
Ability to work independently and interface directly with design teams to define testing strategies
Job Type: Full-time
Pay range the company expects to pay: $147,000 - $184,000 per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.
