Vantor is hiring a Senior Satellite Avionics and Electrical Engineer to join our Satellite Systems Engineering team in Westminster, CO. Top candidates will have demonstrated experience in spacecraft avionics and electrical engineering. Our small team executes projects that start with customer needs, and design, develop, and deliver the world’s most capable earth observation systems. In this role, you will:

  • Conduct and evaluate responses to RFIs and RFPs with satellite component vendors
  • Develop Flatsat and data-chain risk reduction testbeds for multiple systems
  • Integrate and test flight payload systems that create, encrypt, compress, modify, and downlink high-data rate mission products to Vantor ground systems
  • Generate Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and sell off their requirements
  • Write and oversee system compliance to electrical, C&DH, avionics, and software requirements
  • Review vendor-submitted processes, design reviews, analysis packages, and test reports

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, aerospace, physics, or a related field of study
  • 3-7 years of experience in aerospace systems engineering
  • Experience setting up flatsat and risk-reduction test beds for space systems
  • Experience designing and qualifying avionics systems for low-earth orbit space environments: Radiation, thermal, and EMI/EMC environments in particular
  • Experience in electrical engineering, circuit design, and analysis, including typical aerospace requirements for bounding, grounding, charging, shielding, and signal integrity
  • End-to-end aerospace program experience, including ConOps and architecture development, writing requirements, design reviews, assembly integration and test, verification and validation, and on-orbit operations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience integrating AI-enabled edge-compute solutions in space
  • Experience integrating optical crosslink terminal solutions in space
  • Experience working with space-based mission data recorders
  • Experience working with space-based wideband downlink transmitters, their data interfaces in particular
  • Experience integrating software and IP cores into avionics systems
  • Experience working with precision timing systems
  • Computer networking experience
  • Direct experience on the mission data chain for an earth observation space program
  • Experience with encryption/decryption hardware devices and/or IP cores
  • Familiarity with modern cybersecurity principles
  • Familiarity with software architecture, satellite bus flight software in particular
  • Ability to obtain a US Government security clearance at the TS/SCI level

Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.

● The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $90,000.00 - $150,000.00 annually.

 

For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.

Additionally, this position is incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results achieved; the specific incentive plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions.
