Supervisory Supply Technician
Job Description
Summary
The primary purpose of this position is toprovide supply operations support pertaining to specialized or unique supplies, equipment, and parts requiring unusual degrees of protection in shipment and storage, or other items that are unique to the organization's mission or are seldom handled.

Who Can Apply
The Area of Consideration is limited to Air Force Space Command personnel only. External candidates may be considered due to regulatory requirements for priority consideration of priority placement candidates.
Duties
- Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Maintenance Support and Flight Service Center sections, ensuring that maintenance and supply work complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.
- Represents the Maintenance Support and Flight Service Center sections with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
- Manages the overall maintenance and supply interface, resolves supply support problems, reviews reports and coordinates supply related training needs for decentralized supply support personnel.

- This is a Key Position. Incumbents must be removed from their military recall status if alternatives for filling the position during an emergency are not available.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis. May be required to participate in contingency situations, both real world and exercise.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
- May occasionally be required to travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Will be required to work other than normal duty hours such as rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, call back, holidays, etc.
- May be required to carry a cell phone or beeper.
- May be required to participate in contingency situations, both real world and exercise.
- May be required to drive a motor vehicle; obtain/maintain an appropriate valid driver’s license.
- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.

- Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED:
As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, Supply Clerical and Technician Series 2005.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NJ-02, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-08 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience must include in-depth knowledge of program planning, budget and financial management cycles and policies. Knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, and instructions. Knowledge of supply functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) regulations, practices, and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
- Knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, and instructions.
- Knowledge of supply functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods.
- Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of an organization.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply applicable reference material, such as supply regulations, manuals, catalogs, records, orders, etc., to accomplish tasks and resolve complex supply problems.
- Ability to apply basic analytical methods and techniques to resolve complex supply problems and/or deviate from normal supply management procedures or program requirements.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
