The primary purpose of this position is to to exercise first level supervisory and managerial authority over the Airman and Family Readiness Flight assigned to the Force Support Squadron.
Salary range does not include locality pay.
Pay scale & grade NH 3Duties
- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short/long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
- Establishes, defines, and implements requirements for Airman and Family Readiness programs to ensure operations are in line with regulatory and fiscal requirements, support goals, and mission requirements.
- Represents the Force Support Squadron with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.

- Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
- Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
- May be required to travel by military and/or commercial conveyance in the performance of official duties.
- May at times be required to work unusual hours (i.e., nights, weekends, or holidays).
- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
- This is a centrally managed position.
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, 0101 Series.
Degree: Behavioral or social science or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrate that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
Combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience must include establish, revise, or review policies, procedures, mission objectives, and organization design for the staff, as necessary to eliminate work problems or barriers to mission accomplishment. Promote team building. Provide subordinate supervisors and staff with direction and advice regarding policies, procedures, and guidelines. Project short and long-term plans and resources need to respond to trends and directives. Advise staff regarding policies, procedures, and directives of higher-level management or headquarters. Recognize and take appropriate action to correct situations posing a threat to the health or safety of subordinates. Identify the need for special projects, programs or services based on validated community needs and initiate milestones and goals. Ensure current and proposed management strategies agree with organizational directives and by-law requirements. Develop quality assurance surveillance plans to measure the effectiveness of contractors' quality or inspection system.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of social services delivery systems and concepts, principles, and theories relating to one or more of the social or behavioral science fields as well as of community services, locations, and availability to serviced populations.
2 .Knowledge of financial, budget, and resource management practices and principles as well as standard contracting policies, practices, and procedures to manage Airman and Family Readiness resources and financial requirements and oversee Airman and Family Readiness contracts.
3. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
4. Knowledge of a full range of personnel management policies, practices, and procedures including methods used to establish program objectives or performance goals and assess progress toward their achievement.
5. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships using tact and diplomacy in interacting with leadership, individuals/families, service agencies' representatives, and staff.
6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
