Major Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) at Schriever SFB, Colorado Springs, CO is searching for an Operations Branch Chief to support the 10 SOPS NB (NH-0391-04, GS-14/15 equivalent). Description: Serves as the Supervisor for the 10 SOPS Narrowband Operations Branch with responsibility for all assigned missions and goals. Maintain, enhance, and foster a cohesive team focused on mission support and responsive to mission requirements. Create and institute professional training opportunities for all assigned employees. Incorporate and enhance the role and utility of the Operations Branch in support of the operations management community and supported Combatant Commands/Agencies/Activities/International Partners. Ensure Narrowband SATCOM mission support is consistent with USSPACECOM directives, instructions, and orders. Maintain the highest standards of technical and operational support to all users - Combatant Commands, Services, Agencies, other activities, and International Partners. Respond to all taskings within the specified timelines. Lead, coordinate, and conduct Narrowband SATCOM operations in support of DoD's Narrowband SATCOM portfolio with emphasis on: (a) MUOS and legacy payloads for the DoD Narrowband portfolio; (b) execute situational Awareness and reporting responsibilities; (c) conduct/support user mitigations and restorals in response to all Narrowband SATCOM anomalies, threats, communications services outages, and optimization efforts; (d) conduct payload and user analysis, assessments, and metrics. Lead, coordinate, and conduct MUOS operations and activities in support of Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) transition and use of WCDMA services; development and refinement of MUOS situational awareness and reporting policies, processes, and procedures; execution oversight of Authorized Service Interruptions. Perform duties as the MUOS Authorized Service Interruption (ASI) Manager, primary purpose and role to serve as MUOS enterprise level coordinator and manager. Coordinate with NCTAMS PAC, 10 SOPS, SSC/SYD 88 and the community of interest as applicable to ensure ASI's are properly forecasted and performed efficiently. Perform assigned Narrowband SATCOM oversight and management activities of Integrated Waveform and Demand Assigned Multiple Access Control systems and Narrowband SATCOM Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) tools. Coordinate, synchronize and support USSPACECOM, OSD, JS CC/S/A, SSCs, CFSCC, and 10 SOPS counterparts in all appropriate forums to identify and resolve issues impacting Narrowband SATCOM operations and mission support requirements. Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have a strong background with training and experience in Narrowband Military Satellite Communications (SATCOM), to include Legacy, Mobile User Objective System (MUOS), and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) control systems. Be a proven leader and Subject Matter Expert who can manage a cohesive and dispersed team, while providing direction and accomplishing the mission. Be able to plan for optimal operations of NB SATCOM systems, while being able to react to unplanned and/or current events. Be able to brief operations to the NB community and senior leadership.
