Major Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is searching for an IT Specialist to support NSIC S4/6 (GG-2210-13). Description: We are looking for candidates with proven experience, preferably 5+ years focused on DoD or Intelligence IT support working with classified networks. The ideal applicant should have a degree in computer science or information technology. A strong background should show a proficiency in enterprise environments, including data centers, network infrastructure, and cloud integration. You will need a solid foundation in cybersecurity best practices; CompTIA Security+ certification required. Working directly within the staff, you will be a vital resource for tackling IT issues, administering servers and networks, and spearheading technology projects that directly support the mission. Your days will be a mix of hands-on support and strategic planning. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Responsible for the design, drafting, and continuous refinement of comprehensive IT policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure alignment with broader organizational directives and mission objectives. 2. Key in establishing and enforcing robust IT guardrails, integrating risk management principles, compliance standards, and control frameworks to mitigate enterprise risk while enabling mission execution. 3. Serves as a staff-level liaison, driving inter-team coordination, resolving technical integration challenges, and ensuring cohesive execution of IT strategies across diverse mission squadrons. 4. Knowledge of IT systems analysis and internet concepts, functions, techniques, and capabilities sufficient to evaluate new and emerging IT security methods and principles, the feasibility of proposed new systems in addition, applications software projects; and to design, test and maintain information systems and applications software and ensure successful integration with existing and anticipated infrastructure. 5. Knowledge of network architecture, interrelationships, operating modes, configuration, topology, and protocols. 6. Skill and experience applying analytical and evaluative techniques to identify/investigate/resolve issues/problems associated with contract support as well as modifying standard practices and techniques; and skill and ability to identify problems; determines accuracy and relevancy of information; uses sound judgement to generate and evaluate alternatives and to make recommendations. 7. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; in coordinating with stakeholders; in working out solutions to problems or questions related to the work; writing clear and concise intelligence products; and delivering written and/or verbal presentations to senior level audiences for decision-making purposes.
