Major Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Los Angeles Air Force Base El Segundo CA is searching for an Information Systems Security Manager to support SYD 810 (NH-2210-03, GS-12/13 equivalent). Description: System Delta 810's (SYD 810) mission is to deliver timely, resilient environmental and space sensing capabilities to secure victory in joint all-domain operations. It is responsible for providing global space and terrestrial weather forecasting, and critical, actionable environmental surveillance to military operations. The portfolio's end users include Combatant Commands, the 557th Weather Wing, Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center, the Naval Oceanographic Office, and all military branches and intelligence communities. Act as the principal Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and the delegated cybersecurity technical authority for all assigned mission systems. Provides expert cybersecurity leadership and Information System Security Manager (ISSM) oversight for the Delta 810 mission systems. The cyber lead's mission is to embed cybersecurity into the earliest stages of the acquisition process, influencing system design to manage risk effectively. He will implement the Risk Management Framework (RMF) to achieve and maintain the Authority to Operate (ATO), oversee cyber testing to ensure mission assurance and resiliency against advanced threats. Ideal Candidate: - Demonstrated experience as an Information System Security Manager (ISSM) or Information System Security Officer (ISSO). - Strong network engineering experience, with a strong understanding of network architecture, routing, and how data traverses complex networks. - Experience analyzing, securing, and authorizing non-traditional data transport methods from remote locations (e.g., utilizing commercial ISPs, VPNs, or satellite communications to connect to DoD networks such as NIPR). - In-depth knowledge of and hands-on experience with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) to achieve system authorizations. - Proven experience using government cybersecurity compliance tools such as eMASS, XACTA, ACAS, STIGs or other DoW compliance tools. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of a wide range of IT cybersecurity principles, concepts, and methods. 2. Knowledge of the organization's policy and planning formulation process along with its missions and objectives to prepare IT polices and plans. 3. Knowledge of budgetary processes, cost-benefit analysis methods, and analysis of performance data to prepare persuasive budget recommendations in support of IT requirements. 4. Knowledge of system architecture, integration techniques, and testing methods. 5. Ability to analyze complexities of existing technology, review/revise/develop policy, initiate plans for enhancements, and provide management sufficient technical and cost analysis information, through written documentation and oral briefings, to render informed judgments. 6. Ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meet future requirements.
