Major Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) System Delta 84 (SYD 84) at Los Angeles Air Force Base, California is searching for a Financial Management Analyst (NH-0501-03, GS-12/13 equivalent). Description: Are you a driven Financial Management Analyst interested in supporting advanced space technologies in one of the most diverse areas in the country? Come join our team at Space Systems Command in sunny Southern California, located in Los Angeles-the gateway to a multitude of sandy beaches from Santa Monica to Redondo. When you aren't managing the vital financial resources that power our nation's space missions, you can explore endless local attractions including hiking trails, breweries, sporting events, museums, piers, theme parks, and zoos. Elevate your finance career in the only place in the world where you can surf and snowboard all on the same exact day! The ideal candidate holds a Business- or Finance-related college degree and brings at least 3 years of relevant experience at the NH-02 or GS-12 equivalent level, though 5 to 10 years in acquisition financial management is highly preferred. You should possess a DAWIA Practitioner Level Certification in Business or Cost Estimating, or an equivalent industry credential such as a CDFM-A, backed by a minimum of 5 years serving as a budget analyst across various ACAT programs. Furthermore, you must demonstrate a strong capability in formulating, justifying, and monitoring budgets by directly applying financial laws, regulations, and policies to budget presentation and execution. We are looking for a seasoned professional with proven expertise navigating high-stakes programmatic challenges, including managing program breaches, drafting Congressional notifications, and engineering innovative funding solutions. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of budget formulation and submission requirements; of budget obligation and expenditure concepts. 2. Ability to encourage new ideas and innovations; manage human, financial and information resources strategically and build coalitions to achieve common goals. 3. Skill in working with customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations. 4. Skill in evaluating the output of computer tools and adjusting for program conditions. 5. Skills in identifying and analyzing cost-effectiveness relationships between all aspects of financial management which are subject to significant and continuing changes over time. 6. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 7. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements; determine goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinate with other organizations; monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes. 8. Ability to identify problems and use sound judgment and decisions to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations.
