Major Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Systems Command (SSC) Space Base Sensing and Targeting (SBST) in Chantilly, Virginia is searching for an Acquisition Program Chief Financial Officer (NH-0501-04, GS 14/15 equivalent). Description: Step into a critical leadership role as the CFO for Space Base Sensing and Targeting, where you will provide the comprehensive business and financial expertise that underpins the U.S. Space Force's most vital acquisition programs. In this position, you will direct and oversee all financial management activities, leading teams to solve complex fiscal challenges and ensuring the strategic alignment of resources to meet mission-critical objectives. Your daily operations will involve providing authoritative policy guidance, serving as a technical expert to senior leadership, and driving the financial health of programs essential to our national defense. This is a premier opportunity for a strategic leader ready to make a significant impact on a mission of national importance. The ideal candidate is a recognized technical and functional authority in financial management, a U.S. Citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a Top Secret/SCI clearance, and eligible to hold a Financial Management Level 3 Certification. As an established senior-level supervisor, this individual possesses extensive experience leading diverse teams alongside an in-depth mastery of Congressional, DoD, and Space Force fiscal law, policy, and financial management cycles. Serving in a designated Critical Acquisition Position (CAP), they bring a proven track record of developing innovative strategies for complex programming and budgetary challenges, advising senior executive leaders, and driving strategic organizational vision. Key Skills and Abilities: 1. In-depth knowledge of Congress and Public Affairs. 2. In-depth knowledge of program planning, budget and financial management cycles and policies. 3. Ability to gather, analyze, and present complex facts and develop programming and budgetary strategies. 4. Ability to identify problems, develop and implement innovative detailed strategies to resolve a wide range of programming, budgetary, financial and management issues. 5. Ability to negotiate resolution of complex budget and financial execution issues. 6. Ability to interpret and apply fiscal policy and financial rules, regulations, and procedures. 7. Ability to execute complex projects and/or studies within established time constraints. 8. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. 9. Ability to establish and maintain relationships with key individuals/groups within and outside immediate work unit including field-level representatives. 10. Ability to advise senior leaders, Program Element Monitors and field-level representatives.
