Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) staff couple the latest in information system technologies, such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, data science, Artificial Intelligence, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our Intelligence Community, DoD, and civilian customers. 

 

The Modeling and Simulation Computing Department (MSCD) consists of a team dedicated to ground-breaking software solutions and capabilities for government and commercial customer needs We are looking for a Senior Project Leader for Modeling and Simulation Strategic Partnerships (Senior Project Leader - Systems and Modeling and Simulation Engineer). We enable detailed and complex modeling, analysis, optimization, and visualization of satellite orbits, system architectures, and engineering trade-spaces to provide customer decision support for the future of space. 

 

Work Model 

  • This is a full-time position in Houston, TX. 

 

What You'll Be Doing:  

  • Act as a division liaison, providing proactive coordination and consultation to customers and Aerospace staff across the company  

  • Initiate and conduct efforts to develop effective standards and processes to support the division’s modeling, simulation, and analysis capabilities to support new and existing functional areas including digital engineering and cloud computing 

  • Engage closely with senior ISCD staff (PL/SPL level or beyond) to listen, assess, and pinpoint the most critical software issues impacting the program office and customer success. 

  • Apply leadership and coordination across multi-disciplinary technical leaders, Aerospace Program Office personnel, and external customers 

  • Partner with division analysis leads to exercise influence on key stakeholders and government customers by leading engagement efforts with the Human Exploration Spaceflight Team and Civil Systems Group program office 

  • Establish and maintain effective and enduring working relationships with key organizational customers   

  • Serve as a thought leader in identifying and coordinating effective solutions to complex organizational challenges, applying effective communication in teams with high level visibility, including in the areas mentioned above  

  • Lead major software development efforts in the division 

  • Lead without authority to influence program office investments that advance corporate and department strategic objectives in situations requiring coordination among many stakeholders  

  • Lead business development activities with division and customer management to identify growth opportunities, mitigate potential resource weaknesses, develop funding lines, and other critical project management tasks  

  • Support organizational and capability strategic planning in partnership with department and subdivision management, identifying opportunities to close capability gaps by leveraging resources and lessons learned across diverse projects  

  • Mature technical expertise in the department through mentoring team members 

  • Develop and present timely and technically accurate briefings and reports that clearly communicate software development progress and provide recommended design solutions to technical leads, management, and customers 

  • Engage with software users and customers to refine capability requirements 

  • Conduct software architecture design and lead the adoption of best practices in new and existing workflows to meet customer needs 

  • Travel as necessary to support customer efforts  

 

What You Need to be Successful - Senior Project Leader - Modeling & Simulation and Systems Software Engineering  

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Systems Engineering or related  STEM  

  • 10 years or more of related and progressive experience in software architecture, software development, or other engineering relevant engineering experience.

  • In depth experience in designing modern software architectures 

  • Demonstrated experience as a technical lead of a major software project 

  • Hands on experience  in developing software updates and understanding how they fit into the larger software structure as part of a team working to deliver complex projects on schedule 

  • Proficiency in one or more of the organization’s core computer languages such as Python or C++ 

  • Experience leveraging software configuration management and collaboration tools in team environments (Bitbucket, Jira, GitHub, or similar) 

  • Proven ability in building technical proficiency through mentoring and talent development initiatives 

  • Strong communication skills demonstrated through technical writing and presentation to collaborate and influence across teams (staff, peers, and stakeholders). 

  • Willing to travel occasionally to corporate or customer locations to support efforts as needed (approx. 15-20%) 

  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business.  The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below.  Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
