The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architecture, policy and strategy, technology development, warfighter capability enablers, systems integration, defense industrial base, and threat reduction to help shape existing and future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including the U.S. Space Force, U.S. Space Command, Air Force Material Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of technical support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers’ portfolios as well as horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation. Additionally, DSG provides deep technical expertise to the Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) in the conception, design, acquisition, launch and operations of satellite, launch vehicle, ground control, and range systems.
Within DSG, the Defense Space Acquisition (DSA) organization assists the Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) in the conception, design, acquisition, launch and operations of satellite, launch vehicle, ground control and range systems. The EM&C Program Lead will report to the Systems Director of the Protected Tactical Ground within the Communication & Navigation Capabilities Division (CNCD) of DSA.
We are seeking an agile and experienced leader for the Enterprise Management and Control program who has in-depth cybersecurity knowledge and system engineering experience applied to cloud-based ground software systems. EM&C will deliver cloud-based SATCOM situation awareness of space and ground assets that enables dynamic access to resources for warfighters to complete their missions. This role requires a strategic technical leader with deep understanding of ground system architectures, software development, cybersecurity, and cross-functional team leadership to this vital program.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at the Los Angeles Air Force Base in El Segundo, CA.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead technical engagement with the EM&C program office to develop and execute strategic roadmaps to deploy incremental capabilities to the warfighters
- Provide insight into contractor system development and integration planning, execution and performance
- Provide acquisition knowledge and perform technical evaluation to onboard new contractors
- Lead cybersecurity policy development, cyber evaluation, cross domain solution development and continuity of operations (COOP) design
- Leading a multi-disciplinary Aerospace team, defining and prioritizing tasks to ensure delivery of technical products and expertise needed by the customer
- Provide insight to the customer and Aerospace leadership on risks, issues, opportunities and develop mitigation plans and corrective action
- Represent Aerospace in meetings and technical forums such as design reviews, technical interchanges, and program management reviews
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with government customers, mission stakeholders, and executive leadership
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements for Sr. Project Leader – Cyber Security Architecture and Cloud Computing Architecture:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Science, or related technical field
- Twelve or more years of responsible professional engineering experience, including cybersecurity and systems/cloud engineering
- Experience with development, test, and fielding of systems
- Prior engineering leadership or project management experience
- Proven ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with military, technical, and contractor teams
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Ability to support periodic travel
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

- Advanced technical degree in Engineering, Science, or related technical field
- Space program office experience applying knowledge of cybersecurity strategy, program protection, Risk Management Framework, and Authority to Operate (ATO)
- Agile methodology and execution and program increment planning
- Familiarity with Aerospace culture and experience coordinating with Engineering & Technology Group (ETG)
- Active TS/SCI clearance or the ability to attain

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
