​​​​The Aerospace Corporation is hiring a Network Modeling and Simulation Engineer for the Mission Payloads Division (MPD). The position is full-time, 100% at our office in El Segundo, CA.

Job Summary

​​Network Modeling and Simulation Engineer will join the Network/Systems Department (NSD) to support efforts in leading and performing trade studies, analyses, and simulations of space network architectures. The role will also provide critical insight and feedback to government customers to optimize the overall communications performance of current and future terrestrial, satellite, launch vehicle, and ground-based systems. Additionally, your deliveries will help inform acquisition decisions to enhance national security. 

​​What You’ll Be Doing​ 

  • ​​Support in multi-disciplinary engineering team efforts in the development and analysis of future network architectures and requirements 

  • ​•Help to analyze and simulate complex network architectures and protocols 

  • ​Assist with systems architecture definition, development, analysis, modeling & simulation, and prototype development/validation 

  • ​Contribute to innovative efforts via specialized technical studies and internal research and development (R&D) projects to develop the next generation of Space and Ground network concepts, architectures, and technologies 

  • ​Participate in development of data analysis and post-processing tools 

  • ​Support development and sustainment of core network simulation, emulation, and modeling capabilities​

 What You Need to be Successful   

Minimum Requirements  

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, pursuing or conferred within 12 months

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

  • 0-1 year of industry work experience

  • Coursework, applied research and/or direct project experience performing data and/or experimental analysis related to TCP/IP models, network design and modeling and simulation​

  • Experience in software development in Python or C/C++. ​

  • Ability to present results effectively in briefings and technical reports. 

  • Willing to travel occasionally domestically up to 10% to support customer needs

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • Transcripts required.  

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:  

  • Advanced degree

  • GPA 3.5 or higher  

  • Active security clearance

  • Familiarity with network testbed development and/or experience with network emulation/simulation 

  • Knowledge of inter-satellite cross-links and laser optical communication technologies 

We offer a competitive compensation package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business.  The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below.  Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
