Systems Engineer - Critical Communication

Your mission :
The Critical Communication Systems Engineer will be part of the system engineering department of THALES BELGIUM, which is responsible for the integration of critical communication solutions for homeland and defense customers.
As part of your activities, you will join be a major stakeholder in the design, delivery and maintenance of complex systems used by our critical communication customer to fulfill their needs.

Your responsibilities:
• Understand and analyze the customer’s needs;
• Find the best solution and support the solution definition to meet the customer operational needs;
• Write technical specification definition and support Thales’s subcontractors;
• Contribute to the test plan to demonstrate functionality and stability;
• Contribute to configuring, supporting, monitoring and troubleshooting customer network infrastructure ;

• Being part of the engineering discipline and reporting in dotted line to the Service Manager, you take ownership of technical upgrades of the customer's systems, according to the roadmap and agreements with the customer and Service Manager.
• Setup, maintain, improve and document the System Integration Lab, including
telecommunication equipment;
• Prepare, configure equipment for Proof of Concept (PoC) of solution;
Plan and document the service activities;
Support clients in resolving technical problems and taking advantage of such opportunities;
• Collaborate with the Incident Manager in our service organization for our 24x7 support projects. Communicate about modifications on the production system.
• Be part on the 24x7 on-call team when showing sufficient autonomy

Your profile :
• Engineering Master degree in Computer Science and/or Telecommunications with at least 3 years of relevant experience in systems integration and/or advanced technical support (L2/L3);
• The Critical Communication Systems Engineer needs to be a technical passionate. Based on their previous expertise on systems and networks, they will be eager to discover new technologies;
• Demonstrable skills in at least 4 of the following fields:

• Datacenter virtualization (VMWare ESXi clusters is an asset).
• Managed network equipment (Cisco is an asset).
• Scripting (Bash - Python).
• Linux and windows servers.
• IP networks (including routing, QoS, VPN and NAT).
• VoIP, SIP, Asterisk

• Interest for Cybersecurity (network security in particular) is an asset;
• Fluent in English (professional capacity); Fluent in French or Dutch is an asset;
• Capacity for innovation;
• Capability to organize work and share updates through Kanban
