Job Description
Thales is a global technology leader trusted by governments, institutions, and enterprises to tackle their most demanding challenges. From quantum applications and artificial intelligence to cybersecurity and 6G innovation, our solutions empower critical decisions rooted in human intelligence. Operating at the forefront of defence and security, aerospace and space, cybersecurity and digital identity, we’re driven by a mission to build a future we can all trust.
In Romania, we are advancing innovation through software engineering, research and development, delivering solutions in key markets in which Thales Group operates. Our engineers design, develop and integrate solutions that impact global industries – from fully operational systems and subsystems for naval warfare and maritime security operations, to air traffic management systems, satellite-based solutions, tactical indoor simulations, identity and biometric technologies and more.
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented IVV Intern to join our Integration, Validation & Verification team. This role offers hands-on experience in quality assurance within a complex systems engineering environment, combining manual testing expertise with modern test automation practices.
The intern will work closely with senior engineers to ensure that integrated systems meet functional, performance, and compliance requirements — from component-level verification through full system validation.
Key Responsibilities
Manual Testing
Design, write, and execute manual test cases for functional, integration, regression, and system-level testing.
Analyze system requirements and technical specifications to derive comprehensive test scenarios.
Log, track, and follow up on defects using issue tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
Perform exploratory testing to identify edge cases and unexpected behaviors.
Contribute to test plans and test reports for internal reviews and customer deliverables.
Test Automation
Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright (Python bindings).
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
Implement end-to-end, API, and integration test suites using Python and Playwright.
Analyze automation results, investigate failures, and maintain test suite health.
Contribute to the growth and improvement of the team's automation framework and best practices.
IVV Activities
Participate in integration testing sessions across system components and subsystems.
Support the preparation and execution of Verification & Validation (V&V) activities.
Assist in maintaining traceability between requirements, test cases, and test results.
Contribute to test documentation in compliance with applicable standards and processes.
Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
Basic understanding of software testing concepts and methodologies (e.g., black-box, white-box, regression).
Familiarity with Python programming — ability to read, write, and debug Python scripts.
Exposure to or willingness to learn Playwright for browser and API automation.
Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and a quality-first attitude.
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Proficiency in English (written and spoken); Romanian is a plus.
Nice to Have
Previous internship or project experience in QA, testing, or software development.
Knowledge of Playwright, Selenium, or similar automation frameworks.
Experience with version control systems (Git / GitHub / GitLab).
Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
Exposure to REST API testing (e.g., Postman, requests library in Python).
Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
ISTQB Foundation Level certification (or in progress) is a plus.
What We Offer
Mentorship from experienced IVV and QA engineers.
Hands-on experience with real-world integration and verification projects.
Exposure to industry-standard tools, processes, and methodologies.
Structured onboarding and learning path.
Possibility of extension or transition to a full-time role based on performance.
Flexible working arrangements (hybrid / remote options available).
Collaborative and inclusive team culture.
At Thales, we’re committed to fostering a workplace where respect, trust, collaboration, and passion drive everything we do. Here, you’ll feel empowered to bring your best self, thrive in a supportive culture, and love the work you do. Join us, and be part of a team reimagining technology to create solutions that truly make a difference – for a safer, greener, and more inclusive world.
