Senior Data Engineer

Job Objective

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will contribute to Thales Digital Transformation projects by designing, developing, and optimizing scalable data solutions. You will be responsible for collecting, transforming, modeling, and delivering data to support accurate business analysis through reporting, dashboards, and analytical platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble large and complex datasets that meet both functional and non-functional business requirements.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and reusable integration components using Talend and SQL technologies.
• Develop Talend jobs, connectors, interfaces, and ensure deployment and commissioning activities.
• Build and optimize infrastructures for data extraction, transformation, and loading from multiple data sources.
• Maintain ETL processes in operational condition and manage feeding mechanisms including delta load, full load, and historical data processing.
• Identify and implement process improvements by redesigning infrastructure for better scalability, optimized data delivery, and automation of manual tasks.
• Build analytical tools and datasets providing actionable insights into operational efficiency, customer acquisition, and business performance metrics.
• Design and manage modern data architectures including Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, Data Marts, Data Cubes, and Medallion Architecture solutions.
• Work extensively with Microsoft Azure services including ADLS Gen2, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, Analysis Services, and Power BI Services.
• Demonstrate strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server Stack including Database Engine, SSIS, SSAS, and Power BI Reporting Services.
• Optimize database and reporting performance using advanced SQL, DAX, MDX, and query tuning techniques.
• Implement Row Level Security (RLS) across all layers of the data chain.
• Work with modern data technologies including dbt for transformation and modeling, Trino (or equivalent distributed query engines), and object storage systems such as MinIO.
• Support scalable data pipeline development on cloud platforms, with nice-to-have experience on GCP services such as BigQuery and Dataproc.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitLab for deployment automation, orchestration, integration testing, and code quality.
• Collaborate with stakeholders including Executive, Product, Data, Design, and IT teams in an international environment to support data infrastructure needs and resolve technical issues.
• Participate in project qualification, data scoping, discovery activities, feasibility studies, workload estimation, and technical framing.
• Write technical specifications and ensure proper documentation of delivered solutions and achievements.
• Enrich and maintain the solution components catalog.
• Provide user support while ensuring a customer-oriented, proactive, and quality-focused approach.
• Work in Agile environments and contribute actively to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related fields.
