Position Summary:


The Robotics & Automation Engineer (Industry 4.0) supports the execution of the digital transformation roadmap by assisting in the deployment, optimisations and subsequent day-to-day support of robotic automation and integration with manufacturing processes and production equipment.


The role involves contributing to the development and implementation of digital manufacturing solutions, as well as optimising programs and cycle times, supporting simulation, testing, and validation activities to ensure smooth deployment with minimal operational disruption and thereafter, reliable operation of the robotics and automations in production.


Job Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Conceptualize, design, prototype and deploy robotics and automation solutions. Leverage digital manufacturing technologies to drive continuous improvement in alignment with Lean Manufacturing principles alongside cross-functional teams.
  • Manage external vendors and partners to source, develop, and fabricate automation solutions, ensuring seamless integration with existing production machines and systems.
  • Support the development and maintenance of simulation environments to model shop floor scenarios for testing and validation purposes.
  • Participate in Proof of Concept (PoC) and continuous improvement initiatives with cross-functional teams.
  • Support additive manufacturing activities in the Fab Lab, including 3D printing (FDM) and 3-axis CNC for prototyping / parts creation purposes.
  • Collaborate closely with in-house software engineering teams to advance real-time machine connectivity and digital manufacturing capabilities.
  • Develop and deliver training, documentation, and knowledge transfer to operational teams to ensure effective adoption and sustainability of deployed solutions

Job Requirements:

Education Level, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Specialization or formal education in the field of Robotics will be considered an advantage

Experience Level:

  • Fresh graduate. 0-2 years relevant working experience in highly automated manufacturing environments

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience with AMRs and COBOTs; experience in integrating these technologies into real-world production use cases will be a strong advantage
  • Proven project management experience with the ability to effectively collaborate across cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in simulation platforms like RoboDK / Gazebo
  • Proficient in interpreting and creating CAD models (Fusion 360 / SolidWorks) and engineering schematics to support design and integration activities
  • Familiarity with 3D printing (FDM) or basic additive manufacturing concepts will be a plus
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills in other digital manufacturing technologies like AI-enabled machine vision, IoT, and advanced automation technologies
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
