Our Munitions teams in Benalla and Mulwala produce propellants, explosives and munitions for defence and commercial uses. Working in the Process Safety Team and reporting to the Process Safety Manager , the Process Safety Engineer provides expert risk and safety engineering guidance to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient production.
In this pivotal role, you will uphold and continuously improve safety management systems and controls critical to operating safely within a high-risk chemical and explosive manufacturing environment.
Working at our Benalla and Mulwala sites on Yorta Yorta land, your role purpose is –
Leading the timely coordination of hazard identification, risk assessments, and implementation of control measures to deliver precise process safety risk assessments and actions.
Advising engineering teams on risk management to enhance safety outcomes.
Ensuring on-time completion of Major Hazard Facility (MHF) safety assessments.
Planning and facilitating process safety and safety assessment workshops.
Identifying and reporting deficiencies in technical plant, equipment, and maintenance manuals relevant to MHF assessments.
Oversee and provide input to Management of Change processes
Providing process safety support for capital projects
Complete incident investigations and identify remedial actions
On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours:
A bachelors degree in chemical engineering, process safety or other engineering field
Understanding of chemical plant engineering design, process reliability, and risk control principles.
Knowledge of plant hazard identification and risk assessment methodologies.
Proficiency in analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience in HAZOP, LOPA, Incident Investigations and Management of Change processes is highly regarded
Process Safety experience in Major Hazard Facilities is highly regarded

A Defence security clearance is required for this role; applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.
