Job Description
Process Engineer
Iztapalapa, CDMX (Onsite)
Position Summary
Thales is looking for a Process Engineer who will be responsible for ensuring the stability, repeatability, and technical performance of the printing process through control of critical parameters, color management, calibration, standardization, and technical process release. The goal is to guarantee printing compliance and product specifications, maximizing First Pass Yield (FPY) and reducing scrap/rework/reprint, as well as CONQ, ensuring compliance with applicable standards Leads process improvement under Lean Six Sigma (DMAIC) methodologies, using advanced statistical tools for control, capability, and variation reduction, coordinating with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and suppliers/OEMs.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Define and update technical printing standards, including critical parameters, control plans, acceptance criteria, and process stability strategies such as operating windows, control limits, reaction plans, and escalation procedures.
- Ensure regulatory and product specification compliance, including auditing TR/SOP execution and standardization on the shop floor, recording findings, and managing CAPA actions to eliminate root causes and chronic failures.
- Plan and lead Lean Six Sigma (DMAIC) projects to reduce variation, scrap/rework, and improve First Pass Yield (FPY), using advanced statistical tools like DOE, SPC (control charts, limits, alarms), capability studies (Cp/Cpk, Pp/Ppk), and MSA (Gage R&R) for measurement reliability.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and technical maintenance coordination with Maintenance (alignment, pressure, rollers, printheads, cleaning), and lead installation, qualification, and final acceptance of equipment (IQ/OQ/PQ) with defined protocols and acceptance criteria.
- Execute calibration and color management through ICC profiles and measurement using spectrophotometer/densitometer to assure tolerance compliance.
- Monitor printing performance by analyzing FPY, scrap, rework, defect PPM, trends, and printing-related cost of non-quality (CONQ), generating statistical analysis and Pareto charts, and prioritizing projects by economic impact.
- Standardize and optimize technical efficiency by updating control plans, TR/SOPs, training operations, developing/qualifying new materials and consumables with suppliers, and promoting energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives within the process.
- Manage and maintain technical documentation in Sesam, including TR, SOP, recipes/settings, control plans, FMEA, MSA, and checklists, while conducting technical benchmarking with other sites and evaluating/implementing new technologies (software, automation, inspection, traceability) to improve printing stability and quality.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Engineering in Graphic Arts, Printing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Fluency and a proficient level of business English.

- DOE (screening and optimization), robust design, and setting operating windows.
- MSA / Gage R&R for measurement reliability in critical variables.
- PFMEA, Control Plan, and process standardization (TR/SOP).
- Process capability (Cp/Cpk, Pp/Ppk) and interpretation for variation control.
Desired Qualifications
- Desired: Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt/Black Belt) or equivalent; Master’s degree is a plus.
