This role is part of our corporate team, a central hub for Thales Australia. It’s where our shared services – think HSE, finance, legal, HR, procurement – come together to make sure all teams across Australia have access to the business services they need.
In this pivotal role, you will support our Protected Vehicles (PRV) team, which partners closely with defence clients to design, manufacture, maintain, and upgrade world-class protected vehicles that safeguard lives across the globe.
As the trusted HSE Manager, you will lead the effective implementation and execution of HSE policies and strategies across PRV’s operations at Bendigo and Eagle Farm, providing expert advice, strong leadership, and an unwavering commitment to continuous HSE excellence.
Working from our Bendigo site on Dja Dja Wurrung land, your role purpose is to –
Drive transformational safety culture across Bendigo and Eagle Farm by leading and empowering PRV HSE teams to exceed Safety and Environmental Management System standards.
Own HSE regulatory compliance as the trusted authority, proactively minimizing risk through strategic audits, inspections, and early adaptation to legislative changes.
Deliver expert HSE leadership that elevates organisational performance, embeds accountability, and accelerates employee engagement and operational excellence.
Lead innovative incident management and stakeholder engagement strategies that enhance transparency, reduce risk, and strengthen community and regulatory relationships.
Leverage data-driven insights to identify critical HSE improvement opportunities, implementing targeted actions that measurably boost safety outcomes and environmental stewardship.
On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours:
A dedicated HSE professional holding a Diploma in WHS with proven expertise as an HSE Business Partner and in operational roles driving impactful HSE initiatives, ideally within industrial environments
Possess a strong command of HSE management systems, relevant legislation, injury management, workers’ compensation, and health promotion
Recognised as a strategic, proactive, and creative problem solver who thrives in dynamic, high-risk settings
Adept at working collaboratively across local and global teams, bringing excellent interpersonal and communication skills to influence positive safety cultures and deliver measurable improvements
Committed to fostering engagement at all levels and driving sustainable safety excellence
Available to work site based

A NV 1 Defence security clearance is required for this role; applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.

In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role.
