Electronics Repair Technician IV

Orlando, FL (Fully onsite)

Position Summary

Thales is looking for an Electronics Repair Technician IV, whose role involves utilizing your extensive technical expertise to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electronic equipment to high-quality standards.

In this position, you will lead by example, overseeing shop activities, optimizing processes, and managing consumables to ensure operational efficiency. You will mentor and provide expert guidance to Tech I, Tech II, and Tech III technicians, supporting their technical development while reinforcing best practices and quality expectations. Your leadership and advanced problem-solving abilities play a pivotal role in achieving production goals and maintaining quality standards.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Lead advanced equipment troubleshooting and repair, utilizing extensive technical expertise to independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electronic equipment in accordance with high-quality standards and customer specifications, while leading Chronic investigations and return reviews.
  • Oversee daily shop performance and workflow coordination, assigning and managing work plans to meet production, training, and operational goals, while maintaining accurate equipment status records and addressing root causes of issues.
  • Drive process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives, collaborating with Operations to implement lean concepts, enhance repair procedures and documentation, and lead material shortage assessments with effective solutions.
  • Manage shop consumables and compliance requirements, including ordering and disposing of chemicals, maintaining the Chemical Cabinet according to safety protocols, and monitoring supply levels to prevent operational disruptions.
  • Assume supervisory responsibilities when required, coordinating team activities, ensuring adherence to established protocols, and supporting overall shop leadership in the absence of the lead.
  • Provide team leadership and strategic communication, mentoring Tech I and Tech II technicians, leading meetings with Team Leads, and delivering updates that support performance alignment and operational objectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of six (6) years of avionics/electronics repair experience, including 6+ years in a Part 145 FAA-regulated environment and Level 3 component repair experience.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of complex electronic and mechanical systems, utilizing deep technical knowledge and innovative problem-solving techniques to diagnose complex failures beyond the capability of others.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians, facilitate skill development and knowledge transfer, and collaborate with engineering teams to implement system upgrades and performance improvements.
  • Prepare detailed service reports, system diagnostics, and maintenance records, contribute to technical documentation updates, and recommend improvements based on performance metrics and analysis.
  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, safety awareness, and 5S implementation, maintain effective communication skills, speak, read, and write English fluently, maintain regular attendance and professional appearance, align with Thales culture and values, and be legally eligible to work in the country of employment.
  • Must have U.S. or Dual Citizenship (with U.S. being one of the citizenships) and be able to obtain post-hire Public Trust Security Clearance from the Department of Homeland Security.

Special Position Requirements

  • Schedule: flexible work shifts; work schedules 1st– 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; 2 nd -3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.; 3 rd -11:00 p.m.– 7:30 a.m., Operational requirements may include weekends, holidays, and overtime.
  • Physical Environment: Repair Station air-conditioning environment may present elevated noise levels.
  • Travel: This position may require domestic and/or international travel 5%.

The reference Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between

Total Target Cash (TTC) 48,747.00 - 87,907.50 USD Annual

This reflects how companies in a similar industry and geographic region generally pay for similar jobs. This range helps the Company make pay decisions as one data point among many. Where a position falls within this range is also dependent on other factors including – but not limited to – the employee’s career path history, competencies, skills and performance, as well as the company’s annual salary budget, the customer’s program requirements, and the company’s internal equity. Thales may offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s status protected by local, state, or federal law.
