Job Description
About the team
At Thales, we are a global leader in defense technology. Our products are used worldwide to build a future we can all rely on. We are looking for a talented and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team.
As part of the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering department, the Electrical Design team is responsible for designing and integrating all electrical subsystems that together form a radar system. Our team adopts a multidisciplinary approach and uses state-of-the-art technology, initiative, and teamwork to develop products that operate and are maintainable under extreme conditions. Despite being a large organization, we maintain a personal touch and a great working environment. Our exceptional colleagues collaborate to deliver the world’s most advanced defense technology.
About your future role
As an Electrical Engineer, you work together with multidisciplinary (lead) engineers on the electrical (sub)systems of our high-tech search and fire control systems. You are responsible for designing and creating electrical models for these (sub)systems. You ensure that your designs meet the set requirements in various areas such as EMC, reparability, and testability, all with the goal of guaranteeing the high quality of our products.
You work with an Eplan-based workflow and select the components used in our products. We offer guidance and support from technical experts who help you define our products. Together, we are always striving to improve our processes and tools to work as efficiently as possible.
You are involved in prototyping, building, and testing the subsystems you have designed, and you collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to produce, realize, and qualify them.
Your daily tasks include designing electrical schematics in Eplan, discussing requirements with your lead engineer, and documenting your designs. You plan your own work and assist colleagues in achieving product milestones.
Why you are a good match
• HBO degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or similar
• Ability to balance perfection and pace and deliver on time and within budget
• Knowledge of or interest in Eplan
• Strong teamwork skills
• You can translate broad specifications and international (safety) standards into high-quality designs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English
What you will get in return
• A challenging role within a great team in our high-tech, innovative work environment. Including plenty of room for your own initiative and good ideas.
• Opportunities for personal and professional development within the organization, for example in technical, commercial, or international areas.
• Valuable international collaborations with colleagues from 68 countries.
• A comfortable workplace in a modern environment, with attention to flexibility and the right work-life balance.
• You can usually work where and when you want to perform your work as well and efficiently as possible. At Thales, we implement hybrid working, for example allowing you to work from home two days a week.
• A good salary, appropriate travel allowance, and the possibility to personalize your employment benefits annually: for example, you can exchange leave days for internet costs, our cycling plan, corporate fitness, moving expenses, or buy (even) more days off.
• 40 vacation days per year. Yes, really.
