Job Description
Location – Cheadle, Glasgow or Crawley with travel to other Thales UK sites and external events – weekly travel
This role will require regular weekly travel across the UK to deliver and manage outreach activities, events, and partnerships.

As an ambassador for accessible career pathways, you will promote STEM subjects and career opportunities to young people throughout the UK, helping to inspire their ambitions and nurture the next generation of talent.
Your day-to-day activities will be diverse, ranging from designing innovative outreach initiatives and leading major partnerships, to running hands-on workshops, visiting schools, supporting volunteers, and evaluating the impact of your work.
You will work across Thales to connect our business’s future skill requirements with opportunities available today. This role is equally internal and external facing – you will motivate colleagues to engage in volunteering, and collaborate with educational organisations to demystify STEM for educators and young people alike.
Some of the Key tasks/Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Future Talent team and the wider business to create an early talent pipeline that directly supports strategic skill needs
Develop creative resources and initiatives for young people, parents, and teachers, which can be delivered by Thales employees to promote STEM and Thales careers
Plan and project manage key activities and events aligned with outreach and Future Talent campaigns, including National Apprenticeship Week and International Women in Engineering Day
Promote, recruit, and retain volunteer ambassadors from within Thales, ensuring they contribute to outreach and benefit from accessible training opportunities
Research and implement innovative activities to inspire young people at STEM events
Work with internal and external communications teams to share good news stories and successes across social media platforms
About You
You have significant experience in volunteering, careers, or education and can demonstrate your ability to influence others and bring them ‘on the journey’.
You are creative, solution-focused, and believe in making a difference through robust strategy. You are proactive in identifying challenges and will actively seek out workable solutions to barriers that may arise.
You will have experience in successfully leading projects, even if you do not hold a formal project management qualification. You will promote Thales’ vision of being a leader in fostering opportunity and developing aspirations in young people, and you are committed to continually improving products and processes to drive efficiency.
You bring a unique approach to solving business problems, drawing on multiple perspectives and actively questioning and listening to others to formulate collaborative solutions. Key attributes and requirements include:
Ability to construct, implement, evaluate, and communicate effective strategies
Capacity to anticipate future business needs and design new, innovative, and simplified solutions to maximise business impact
Skill in sharing a compelling vision both internally and externally regarding social impact, and in engaging multiple stakeholders
Expertise in presenting, developing training materials, and delivering and facilitating events
Experience in building education or training programs for diverse audiences, with strong knowledge of STEM subjects
Strong aptitude for data gathering and analytics
Willingness and ability to travel across Thales UK’s footprint
Security Clearance Requirement:
Due to the nature of the work that we do at Thales, many of our roles are subject to security restrictions. This role requires Security Clearance (SC). It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment.
To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
