Autonomous Systems Specialist Intern
Position Summary
Thales is seeking a dynamic and innovative Autonomous Systems Specialist to develop defence oriented solutions. The successful candidate will develop and demonstrate new capabilities with air, surface and sub-surface vehicles.
Regulatory Compliance Requirement
This position requires direct or indirect access to hardware, software or technical information controlled under the Canadian Export Control List and/or the US the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be eligible or able to obtain authorization for such access.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Transform user requirements into technical specifications.
- Develop designs that meet technical specifications.
- Assist in implementing and validated the developed products.
Minimum Requirements
- 2 years’ experience designing and developing autonomous systems.
- Capacity and drive to continuously learn & apply new technologies and methods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of and experience with platforms, sensors, communication systems and standards for autonomous systems..
- Knowledge of AI, and the ability to articulate its strengths and weaknesses in terms of mission impacts/success to Customers and End Users.
- Licensed and experienced in the operation of drones in the air, on the surface, and under the surface.

- Schedule: On Call
- Physical Environment: Hybrid Work Arrangement – working remotely from home and some time will be required in the office
- Travel: Light
The reference Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between Total Target Cash (TTC) $45,000 – $55,000 -$65,000 CAD Annual.
This reflects how companies in a similar industry and geographic region generally pay for similar jobs. This range helps the Company make pay decisions as one data point among many. Where a position falls 5within this range is also dependent on other factors including – but not limited to – the employee’s career path history, competencies, skills and performance, as well as the company’s annual salary budget, the customer’s program requirements, and the company’s internal equity. Thales may offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s status protected by local, state, or federal law.
