LEAD PRODUCTION MACHINIST (STARLINK) - 2ND SHIFT
As the Lead Production Machinist on the Ultra Precision Machining team, you will be responsible for manufacturing, developing, and continuously improving key technologies consisting of micron level tolerance machined parts at production volumes. This is a unique and challenging opportunity to use world class equipment, learn diamond turning, and work with some of the best and brightest in their fields. The scope of this team is to make the parts that other companies cannot, and to continue to push the boundaries of what is possible to machine.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead a team of Production Machinists and Quality Specialists on 2nd shift
- Guide team with best practices and cross train team in CNC, inspection, and test operations
- Maintain shop schedule and act as POC when management is unavailable
- Ensure team has proper information and tools to complete their work
- Provide recommendations to engineers and management to improve manufacturability
- Ensure team meets or exceeds productivity and quality goals
- Set up and operate multi-axis CNC machines
- Perform and assist with CMM precision inspections and VNA testing, record results, and recommend corrective actions to improve part quality
- Effectively communicate and give technical feedback to leadership/engineering
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 5+ years of experience with g-code, set up, operation and/or programming of CNC mills/lathes
- 3+ years working in production machining cells
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 3+ years leading a team in a machine shop environment
- 5+ years of 5-axis mill setup experience
- 5+ years of horizontal mill setup experience
- 5+ years of vertical mill setup experience
- Experience using pallet systems and cells
- 1+ years of CNC programming experience using NX
- Experience with micron level tolerance parts and how to handle/inspect them
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work all shifts, overtime and weekends as needed. Estimated shift time: 2nd shift (4:00 PM to 2:30 AM)
- Must be available for 10 hour shifts
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to stand for extended periods - 8 hours min
- Ability to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces
- Ability to work in an environment with repetitive movement, bending or twisting, using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls, exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. Company shuttles are offered to employees for roundtrip travel from select Seattle locations to the SpaceX Redmond office Monday to Friday.
