This role provides senior-level electrical engineering support to aerospace electronics manufacturing operations. The Manufacturing Electrical Engineer partners closely with Operations, Quality, Industrial Engineering, and Supply Chain to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient production of complex electronic assemblies. This position is hands-on, factory-focused, and accountable for resolving electrical, test, and process issues impacting cost, quality, and delivery—while serving as a technical leader on 2nd shift.

This role is onsite, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. 

This position is for 2nd shift which will work Monday – Friday 3pm to 12am with overtime as business needs dictate. Training will be on 1st shift 7am -3pm .

What You Will Do 

  • Provide on-floor electrical engineering support for electronics manufacturing operations, including circuit card assembly, box build, and system integration

  • Lead investigation, root cause and corrective action (RCCA) for electrical, test, and yield issues impacting production

  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point for 2nd shift manufacturing issues, ensuring rapid containment and resolution

  • Develop, maintain, and improve electrical manufacturing processes, test methods, and work instructions to meet design intent and workmanship standards

  • Support production readiness for new product introduction (NPI), engineering changes, and configuration changes

  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to resolve producibility, testability, and obsolescence issues

  • Partner with Quality Engineering to support audits, customer escapes, nonconformances, and corrective action plans

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, technicians, and manufacturing personnel

  • Support capital equipment selection, validation, and implementation related to electrical test and manufacturing processes

  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures, customer requirements, and applicable aerospace standards (e.g., AS9100, IPC)

 Qualifications You Must Have 

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience

Qualifications We Prefer 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

  • Experience supporting electronics manufacturing environments (e.g., circuit card assembly, test, integration).

  • Experience in Aerospace or Defense Manufacturing

  • Experience with troubleshooting skills across electrical circuits, test equipment, and manufacturing processes

  • Familiarity with IPC standards, ESD controls, and high-reliability electronics

  • Experience supporting test stations, ATE, or functional test environments

  • Experience supporting off-shift or extended-hour manufacturing operations

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
