Founding Software Engineer

About the role

Postgres is the most popular database and PgDog is building its future. This isn’t an easy task, but it’s exciting and full of opportunities. As our first founding engineer, you will define the company. You’ll be given full autonomy and responsibility to build our products, including 0-to-1 projects. You’ll interact with customers, scope the roadmap, build features and deploy to production.

Technology

PgDog is written in Rust. This choice is intentional because it allows us to write good and performant code, quickly. Our integration tests are written in 7+ languages (and Postgres drivers). You don’t need to know them all (LLMs are here to help), but you need to be comfortable in Rust. If you’re not, you should be willing to learn quickly.

Being an expert in Postgres is beneficial, but not necessarily required. If you’re not familiar with it, you have to be willing to pick up a 1,000 page manual and become one.

Location

Currently remote in the San Francisco Bay Area. We’ll get an office as we grow. We’ll meet in person regularly for coffee, drinks, food, brainstorming, hiking, etc.

Interview Process

1. 30min intro call.
2. Take home (paid).
3. Technical deep dive (1h-3h).
4. Offer.
