Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has a opening for a Staff Guidance Navigation Control engineer to lead the development of next generation navigation technology on Air Vehicle programs and / or in the Common Products organization. This role is a hybrid position located in Rancho Bernardo, CA. Up to 10% travel may be required to perform the statement of work.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading the technical development, integration and testing of advanced Vehicle Management System software and hardware components focused on Navigation.
Responsibilities may include:
- Interfacing with strategic supplier partners and coordinating with adopting programs chief engineers and division chief architects to ensure technical requirements are properly incorporated into design solutions.
- Ensuring VMS lab infrastructure is developed and validated to support development efforts for critical sector programs and advanced design solutions.
- Leveraging your good understanding of the GPS system, the GPS Signal in Space characteristics, DGPS systems, inertial sensors, GPS/INS, tightly coupled Kalman filters, GPS receiver design
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelors degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) field and at least 12 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a Master's Degree in a STEM field with at least 10 years of relevant military / professional experience, OR a Ph.D. and at least 7 years of relevant military / professional experience.
Must be proficient with MATLAB
Must have experience with C/C++, Python, and / or Simulink
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Clearance Level: Active Top Secret
Knowledge of relative navigation technologies and algorithms
Experience in developing navigation fusion algorithms with a focus on image based navigation, LiDAR based navigation, & Celestial based navigation
Knowledge of Flight Sciences
Flight Test experience: Some experience
Supplier management: Some experience
Requirements development: Some experience
Requirements verification testing: Some experience
Proficiency with test equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, signal analyzers, multi-meters):
